Can I JUST ( and ONLY ! ) change the resolution in TTDX...?

Post by romarin »

Hello 2 All !

I like the plain old TTDX as it is ( my young kids can play with it easily w/o being "losts" ) , except ONE thing : the resolution.

Do you know if there is a patch that would change resolution ONLY...?

Pls note : As of now , I'm running TTDX under Windows XP in safe mode , as I haven't found a solution to run it under "normal" windows in full screen ( it runs , but in a small window -- But I'm on a 20" in 1920 x 1200. Of course it can run full screen if I down the screen resolution to 640 x 480 ). The patch I have is ttdpatchw.exe , and I launch the game on clicking on that .exe

Thank you very much for your help,

Romarin.

You can change the resolution by using the 'switches' "resolutionheight" and "resolutionwidth" in 'ttdpatch.cfg' file.
(You can use notepad to 'ttdpatch.cfg').

Changing them to "resolutionwidth 1920" and "resolutionheight 1200" would give a resolution of 1920x1200 for example.

Hope that helps,

Thank you for your answer.

But , if I apply the patch , many other things will change...

And , all I want is to change the resolution ONLY...

From memory if you turn pretty much everything else off, bar the win2k switch it should be basically stock TTD gameplay (including bugs).
I could however be mistaken though.

Hello,

I d/l the patch and tried to run it , at least to see what's in.

However , the Drexler patch doesn't run on my computer.....

I receive a first error message , i can pass it , then the second one definitely blocks me , and I have to close... the patch , as it happens before the game launches... :( :( :(

What do the error messages say, exactly as they say it.

Shouting isn't going to help you.

Go RTFM, it clearly explains how to work the configuration file and what tools may or may not be used to help you with that. Then just disable everything except for the XP and resolution settings. That should give you something as close to clean TTD as possible.

Thank you for your answer.

In which of the 2 config files do you see a possibility to change the resolution...???

Do I have to add that command by myself , with notepad or something equivalent...???

If yes , in which one of the 2 , and how....??? ( syntax )

Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your suggestion , but

You know ,

I know ,

Everybody knows ,

That all the patches over 2.01 are unstable and unreliable , just as J. DREXLER said himself.... ! ! !

Thank you for your suggestion anyway.

Any other (reliable ! ) idea is welcome...

Thank you.

Did you come here for help or did you come here to complain?

For your information: Lakie is one of the few people still working on TTDPatch. My 10 cents are that if he makes a suggestion what to try that the solution may not be all that bad. Also, the last time Patchman said anything on this forum is August 2008.

Neither 2.5 beta 9 nor r2366 are unstable. Instead "TTDPatch stable 2.0 rev 1" is quite old, hence doesn´t contain the possibility to change the resolution.

@moderators: this is OT and should be moved to the ttdpatch section.

This is just a disclaimer. The current nightly (r2366) is actually very stable.
Note that you will also require Base graphics (v1.0) which downloads as ttdpbasew.grf
Also, you might find that TTDPC is easier to use as a configurator.
Look for `win2k' and set it to on. This will allow TTDX to run under Windows XP without having to use safe mode.

Once you have it running the way you like your kids will have many hours of fun. :D
