Pacific NorthWest: Canada/USA, Vancouver to Portland

Post by sootynz »

This scenario uses OpenTTD version 0.7.2 with the Alpine/Arctic climate landscape. You will also need George’s ECS Wood vector B5 28 June 2009.

The towns were created with the Total Town Replacement Set v 3.02a grf but you could easily substitute your own. All towns are placed approximately correctly but not necessarily to scale with regards to population and I have had to omit towns very close to Vancouver, Seattle and Portland. There are two imaginary cities: “To East BC” and “To E Washington”, placed at the edge of the map where the E- W railroads are. Have fun building rail to them – but not by digging a straight trench through the mountains.

Industries have been placed in a mixture of real locations and imaginary.

The ECS wood vector has Forests, Sawmills, Paper mills, Furniture and Print, producing wood, wood products, paper and goods, in addition to the standard default industries. However, there is a wrinkle. There are two instances of “paper” in the vehicle lists (as at October 5. 09) – use the first one, ignore the second.

Ideally, you should use the North American Renewal Set, NARS, or the Canadian train set (when the latest version appears). You will need to add ship, road and aircraft grf sets that can transport goods from the ECS Wood, e.g NewShips, Long Vehicles v4 or Aviators Aircraft (av8).

Oh, excellent! I was hoping there was a scenario of this region. Top notch!

hi petert
Can I use this for a server map?
Yes by all means.

Any one else wanting to use it for their servers or multiplayers can too.

It looks like a great map. I was wondering if you, or anyone else reading this, could point to a good map online that would help to construct the real railroads in this area ? My searching on Google has failed

The Atlas Map of Canada is a good one for this. Select the Legend tab on the right and you can turn map features on or off. The available features will vary with the zoom setting (zoom in on the map to get access to more features). :D

Are you referring to The Atlas Map of Canada? If so, that is the only version that I am aware of.
