[REL] Northern Ontario & Quebec Canada

Post by Opan »

[update]
Realistic industries has been taken down.

[old]
V1.0 is released. From North Bay to Fort Severn, right through the rough Canadian Shield and up in Northern Ontario's Boreal Forest. Everything is in the zip file, feel free to leave suggestions here.

More screens further in the thread.

Have fun and Enjoy!

~Dave

[old]
I've been working on a landscape that tries to capture northern Ontario, from Moosonee to Sudbury. It features part of Lake Superior, and Hudson bay as well as a part of northern Quebec.

I'm doing this completly on my own just by looking off of a topographic map of Ontario. Any critisism and tips are welcome. I still need to cover the open water up, and add the roughness to the land. Ignore the large amount of water on the last screenshot, I still need to fill it up with land.

Here are some screens of my work so far.

Okay, after some tedious work, the land has been filled in and rivers are under construction.

You do know that there will be still objects embedded in the map even if they are deselected? (So yes, keep a clean install next to your modded version.)

Well, yes. My point was that if you have all the items required by the map (in your objdata folder) then you can swap in/out the exact items you want to play with in the scenario editor.

To answer everyone's question; It is being made on a clean install so anyone can download without hassle. I will simply suggest the mods you should use, and rail lines that run through.

Just a quick update.

Most rivers in Ontario are finished, and I'm starting to build rivers and towns in Quebec. As well as Ishpatina Ridge, just south of Timmins.

This is freaking awesome. I am doing a forum search on Ontario since I am from Ontario and will be checking out other customized maps in my area.

Well it certainly has been a while since I've played Locomotion or even visited these forums for that matter. But in returning it has somewhat sparked my interest in trains once again. I've got the computer that has the save file running again, so I very well may finish it. Looking at these pictures again remind me how close I was. Its got me cruising the forums again.

Just a quick update to say that it is coming along nicely, I've added a few more towns, the rough terrain is expanding. Should be completed soon. Hopefully before Labor Day weekend.
And a quick question to anyone running Lomo on Windows 7, my screenshots keep disappearing, as they aren't in the Locomotion folder.

Well now that I've got my screenshot issue fixed here's an up to date screen. The rough exterior of the Canadian shield near the south of the map is nearly finished, as it begins to dissipate as move further north. I've added towns Attawapiskat, Espanola, and Val-d'or. There will be industry inbetween Marathon and Fort Severn, with the recently discovered "Ring of Fire" Holding massive deposits of chromite. But for ease of downloading, they will be coal mines  . Work still need to be done in northern Quebec though I still need to do some research on that area, just because I'm not to sure what all is up there, mostly Native reserves I believe.
Should be done soon
