Should rocks be used in the scenario?

noooo roads should be pre-made, its more realistic. Isn't we trying to aim for realism? :?:

No, were not. OpenTTD (and its scenarios) doesn't need to be a clone of real life.

But personally, it kinda adds another challenge to the game because you have to work around what is already there. Again, that is my personal opinion, either valued, or not

Why would you want to work around what is already there? That is what landscape is for. The challenges of the landscape are what make it difficult, not the roads.

I hold my opinion on no roads.

Hello petert,

For only 1 out of the 4 available ways to transport, roads are an obstacle (trains). For road-vehicles they are a great help, and boats and planes don't really care (boats in the mountains? oh well)

So, instead of pushing your way of making transport routers to other players, please consider people who don't only use trains. If you want to play only with trains, consider the game 'Railroad Tycoon' or 'Train Simulator' or w/e

And RV with premade roads are less useless.

Don't worry, this scenario hasn't been scrapped. It WILL be finished. Ok new poll guys. Results of the first one:

1. Use double lane roads - sod the narrow valleys 18%
2. Use double lane roads - widen the valleys 18%
3. Just use single lane roads and label them differently 32%
4. Just use single land roads 11%
5. Other 21%

Anyway, now I would like to know the pubic's opinion on whether we should utilise the new feature whereby you can have rock on a surface in the summer and snow in the winter. Consider the following screenshots and poll options, and VOTE :) Obviously more rock would be put in to make it more like a pass, but you get the idea. Another advantage of putting rock in is that it prevents trees growing on mountain peaks.

[EDIT] Do any devs know if it is possible to draw/add/code rock tiles that have some snow on? E.g. so a tile could go from complete snow > Mostly snow but rock showing > Mostly rock with lumps of snow > Rock ? At the moment it uses the gradually less snow on grass and then jumps to rock. Sorry I haven't explained that very well.

Double post. Today has been an important day in the future of this scenario. I have finally found my 'mojo' for scenario building again, so progress today has been quick. Attached screenshots to show areas that are taking shape. If ANYONE that has knowledge of these areas can help with town/village placement, I would be eternally grateful. If this is the case, feel free to modify the map, write a few places on and PM it to me :)

I'm also interested, if you have good GRFs we'll probably host this on an IS2.1.1 game. :-)

No need for train GRFs, we will add those.

Towns have been built with TTRS3, NA city and Swedish Houses. Stolen Trees are in, and Alpine Climate is in. Apart from that, the rest are just trains/station grf's I think.

Sorry, TBRS is in, as is NA roads. I don't follow the thinking behind NARS2 though.

Train sets won't change the scenario itself, they should be left up to the user to add.
