The completed cargo trams and coaches. I am quite pleased with how the cargo trams turned out, I think they are a nice set of sequential design improvements... The second, third and fourth ones are coded like mini double-headed trains; the front with the pantograph up and the rear with it down*. The coaches are a simple taller (with an extra rear wheel) version of the busses of the same era.

*The pantographs may be made larger to accomodate double decker trams better...

One question about the second tram, where do the passengers enter?

By the doors which blend into the CC blue (just above the wheels).
And the next tram design...

I think the todo list is actually as follows:

Tram: V.Future
DoubleDecker Tram: Old, Current, Future, V.Future

I made a couple of mistakes writing the vehicle list from memory :)

And another tram! I think the modern trams are going to be a bit plain, sadly there is not much to model when it comes to sleek modern vehicles...

Try this one for very modern.

I have to admit I am no fan of its riding qualities however.
But I think it has got a very distinct windshield.

*edit* Is the 32bpp catenary for tram tracks available somewhere?

Not, They are only two lines (black and grey) that I have drawn with GIMP. The rails are based on a 1 m gauge and They needs lots of improvements in lower zoom levels.

Ah, fair enough!

Anyways, these are the last four vehicles modelled for GRVTS. If I have done everything right all vehicles are now modelled, rendered, masks generated, alligned coded and ready for in-game!
That is:
~250 sets of vehicle sprites
~2000 sprites
~12000 .pngs for images and masks for z2, z1 and z0
~80mb (un-rar'd)
~15000 "spare" sprites, eg. extra loading stages (the 2/3 stage), unused variants (express hopper/flatbed/tanker trucks)

I am going to do some general bugfixing (matching up the misnumbered sprites, fixing minor rendering errors, etc) but hopefully I can release these graphics for general consumption soon! The one remaining serious issue is how to handle the horizontal views, they are currently ~0.8 the width they should be to match up end-to-end in articulated vehicles in the various list views. I think, for the moment, they will stay this length (it looks better when turning corners), though it may well be changed in the future... It would take some serious re-rendering though!

To me, the wheel placement look very un-tram-ish. Almost all trams I have seen have the wheels close to the center, and a large overhang in front and end. Try the google images for "old trams" to see what I mean.

Try to keep always the same pantograph height, because It must fit in the catenary.

This is quite hard to do when there are no finished 32bpp tram track/catenary sprites; I'm not going to bother finalising pantograph heights till these are available.

A little question, is it appropriate to use Jupix's repo for these graphics? Or is that repo supposed to be base graphics only?

*edit* Never mind! I went for the upload anyway, and also put a copy on my dropbox space. Download now available in the first post!

Almost all trams I've seen use four-wheel bogies, like train cars. Only the very smallest old trams have just two axles (in which case, yes, the wheelbase is usually short relative to the vehicle length).

I think the trams will be the first to get some improvement, they are definately some of the worst models I have made for this set.

*edit* I have also put the source .blends, ImageJ macros and .bat online if anyone is interested. These can be used under the CC-BY-NC-SA v3.0 license. If you want to use anything for any other set/license just ask! I would be glad to help :)

Zeph, how come you are so good at coming into a project and then just making the entire project in like 4 weeks total when other people have been strugling to do as much as you do for years. I'm talking about 32bpp in general. Yes, some work has been done but I have never seen such speed that you are displaying here!

After you finish this definitely consider jumping aboard the 32bpp project, it needs godlike artists like you!
