32Bpp Graphics Pack (13/03/2010)

Post by 32Bpp-Pack »

Please note that information and downloadable material in this thread is with increasing likelihood obsolete
The graphics packs in this thread were compiled almost 9 months ago at the time of writing this notification, therefore the graphics may be glitchy, may not install properly, or content may be missing altogether. For the latest and greatest graphics in a single package, see Jupix' nightly autopacks. For additional graphics, see the file list on the wiki.
Image

32Bpp - Game files
All what you need to run the latest OTTD version with FULLZOOM support
Its a Self extractable file, just unpack the game to the your desired game folder.
  • Includes:
  • 32bit or 64bit binaries r19024 (latest)
  • OpenGfx Version 0.2.1 (latest)
  • Includes OpenSfx Version 0.2.1 (latest)

32Bpp Graphics Base Set:
Includes all the available 32Bpp sprites to replace the games 8bpp BaseSet in one file.

available in two versions this time, in one tar self extractable Tar file (baseset.exe) or a pack of all the TAR files (fullpack.zip), both have the same content.

BaseSet.exe - rapidshare, megaupload, netload
Fullpack.zip - rapidshare, megaupload, netload

For additional content like the no lines tiles, Train set, bridges, GRVT's etc see the file list on the wiki

Install process
extract the base set to your [game folder]\data\
extract the additional set to your [game folder]\data\ <- those are activated like all grfs in the game.
play.

* if you DL the No lines Pack, it comes without a newGRF so you have to replace the Tars from the FullPack with the same name with those.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

** (Http, RAR, One File Download):
Http - Means normal Browser download
Self Extractable - Just click and choose where to unpack (those with winrar or 7zip, can just use the right click for more oprions)

we use Free HTTP Hosting, in case you never used it before, there is no need to get scared by it, just look for the free option
here is a youtube videos featuring how to use Rapidshare service or Netload service to help you.
also note its free hosting and thus its some times has download limits, this why you have been provided with multiple sources for the same file.

its exactly the same files as in the wiki link provided above, the pack provided to avoid the click fest that required to download all 29 tar files currently hosted.
so next time a user asks you how to get this newgrf you are using you can provide him with simple instruction of how to get it (a little publicity to entice the crowds and with it will come more to our ranks)

here is the list:

Code: Select all

        6,905,344 32bpp_fullzoom_bridges.tar
        12,984,320 32bpp_fullzoom_city_buildings.tar
         4,104,704 32bpp_fullzoom_default_industries.tar
           142,848 32bpp_fullzoom_opengfx_catenary.tar
         5,099,520 32bpp_fullzoom_roads.tar
         2,375,680 32bpp_fullzoom_trees.tar
         5,898,240 32bpp_fullzoom_trucks.tar
         1,610,752 Airports.tar
         8,571,392 Ben_Robbins_Temperate_Lines_32_xz.tar
           326,656 bus left.tar
           321,536 bus right.tar
         4,354,560 Coast_tiles.tar
         1,213,440 crossings_wotan_02.tar
         3,871,232 desert_and_tropical_climate.tar
         7,822,336 farm_Alltaken.tar
         5,516,288 foundations.tar
         1,878,528 GUI_OpenGFX.tar
           215,552 Miscellaneous_sprites.tar
         2,122,240 monorail_temperate.tar
           646,656 pietjeklap_planes.tar
           772,608 Rail Station depot.tar
         5,733,376 Rails_Ben_Robbins_temperate.tar
         1,651,712 smoke_sparks_fire2.tar
         5,372,928 Soil_artic_AlltakenAndBen_Robbins.tar
         2,667,520 Trains.tar
           818,688 tram_tracks.tar
         1,082,880 Vehicle stations and depots.tar
        10,868,736 Without_lines.tar
           803,840 Wotan_signals.tar

              29 File(s) 105,754,112 bytes
i will keep updating releasing updated packs but its only a temporary solution, until there will be an official solution like the one discussed in this thread
in case anyone want to do this as well its very simple just update your files with the latest from the repository, create your archive, double scan it, upload it using a service like this: http://www.gazup.com/ post links here. (torrent will be nice too but i recall reading it hasnt had much use in the past)

Self extractable file, Just Unpack it into your OTTD Installation folder and you are ready to go.
1. Includes the Latest OpenGfx Version 0.2.1 from 23-Dec-2009.
i am not sure what the point of Includes OpenGfx, if its a 'User Friendly Pack' than include OpenSfx and the latest 32Bpp compilation as well, for a "one click stop" experience ... otherwise its better to leave it out (if they downloaded the rest they probably dl OpenGfx too)

also packing it as tar file will be nice, even better a base tar and optional tar's to allow more customization on our part. (like the new toolbar icons that not everyone may like).

EDIT: i reedited the post, it seems that long working hours makes my posts even less readable.

No, please don't include OpenSFX. It's much more easily downloaded through Online Content, and it's much more easily maintained/updated through online content.

I wonder why you want to add these 3.5MB per download as a ballast. For most people it certainly isn't necessary as they'll already have it (after all it can be downloaded via the installer); thus it will eat bandwidth of both the server and the users and not add anything...

And yes, adding OpenSFX certainly makes even less sense.

well you cant get to the online content without the OpenSFX in the first place(the game wont start)

Besides its a bit annoying for someone new that want to play the 32BPP version, to have to download the main version + the OpenSFX + OpenGFX first, then download 32Bpp version, then copy OpenSFX + OpenGFX from the main version to the 32BPP version, then download the 32Bpp flies, then edit the cfg .....

its suppose to be ' User Friendly Pack' not the ' User Friendly Pack, the sado masochist version'
so what i suggest is a all in one download pack, just DL and play And a second clean tar pack, without any additional OpenGFX that we can DL our self.

Why would you need that? If you installed the base files properly to the right location [TM] there's no need anywhere for copying anything around. Last time I checked the appropriate information were found in section 4.2 of the readme.

The cfg might need editing, if you want it for two different OpenTTDs you can just edit the cfg in the local binaries' dir.

I would hope that it puts all content into something like "My Files\OpenTTD\data" where it is accessible by all OpenTTD installs. But then... I never used an installer.

How do 32bpp graphics work right now? Are missing graphics represented by black boxes?

@Wasila, nope, the 8bpp looks exactly the same and the new 32Bpp sprites just offer more details.
if you use the fullzoom, than 8Bpp sprites will just be stretched with a special algorithm (iirc its Hqx now)

as for the 32Bpp at fullzoom they look amazing and much greater level of details, here is some screenys
i really cant wait for some of our great GRF sets teams to start working with it, just consider how good those planes/trains models could look like :P

Two updates: The coal piles was modeled by Slye_Fox and Wacki. I will add more updates, because I forgot the license files.

These files works as GRF files, You must enable it in new GRF window.

So this means that I can use this pack and what's missing will just be OpenGFX? Cool.

Also where can I get my hands on the zoom levels patch? I no see it in the development thread.
