New stuff waiting to be coded can be found there as of now
Hello, I am new to the forums, I have been playing OTTD for sometime now, I've noticed one thing with most new GRFs, they leave out the monorail. I have been thinking that a grf which introduces only monorail locomotives and cars to be used a long side some of the existing train sets would be a great addition to the game.
Either a grf which adds the original monorails onely to go with the existing sets or possibly more favourable to base them off real life monorails.
If this doesn’t exist I've been doing some research into existing monorail technologies and would like to help create a new grf.
Note: I can do graphical design but I don't know what stage sizes to use for ottd and am not familiar with the palate, help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Lawton27
EDIT:
The first new grf is available on page 3 thanks to DJ Nekkid hopefully an improved version will be made latter.
(for newest version start at the bottom and scroll up)
Also available on bananas (in game download system).
Past Poll results:
Should I add some real life pre 1990 monorails.
Yes: 94% [ 29 ]
No: 6% [ 2 ]
I Plan to add the modern JR maglev’s, they run various MU locomotives with 1 or 3 carriages, how should I set this up?
A) 2 Vehicles for each model, one 1 carriage, one 3 carriages.
B) Locomotives can be refit to 1 or 3 carriages.
C) Locomotives and carriages are separate items, buy a locomotive then a 1 or 3 carriage setup.
Answer 100% C

Re: New Monorail Trains
Thanks for the help, I've got to work, it's rather basic but I'm happy with my work, I've created an urban monorail train based off the one's in Tama Toshi (in dual company colors).
Could someone please code it into a grf which adds it?
Stats:
Name: Urban Monorail Train
Designed: 1998
Weight: 200 tonnes
Consist: 2 driving cars, 4 carriages
Normal Speed: 100 km/h
Top Speed: 120 km/h
Power: 1,800 kW
Capacity: 240 passengers

Re: New Monorail Trains
Thank you
Note: I changed the speeds, just realized that that was vry slow

Re: New Monorail Trains
More here for codeing, if you notice this benny put it in the same grf, if not another grf will be fine for now, I plan to build a large set.
This is the express monorail, based off of the las vegas monorail trains.
Stats:
Name: Express Monorail Train
Designed: 2005
Weight: 200 tonnes
Consist: 2 driving cars, 10 carriages
Normal Speed: 144 km/h
Top Speed: 300 km/h
Power: 1,800 kW
Capacity: 480 passengers

Re: New Monorail Trains
I am sorry, but I don't want to get involved in a big set. I have tried before, but it is simply a too big task for a 14-year old that has coded 1 newGRF.
Re: New Monorail Trains
That's ok, can you code them two please, I've no more to add for now, I find another coder to help finish the whole set, thanks again for your help.
Re: New Monorail Trains
Edit: No, actually I give up. It is so long since I've coded a vehicle that the NFO doesn't make sence.. The yrel and xrel stuff is like..
Re: New Monorail Trains
Perhaps you and andythenorth could do a bit of mutual back scratching?

He seems happy to make NewGRFs without sprites, you can draw but not make NewGRFs. Drop him a PM, see where it goes.
EDIT: Changed to reflect andy's abilities.

Re: New Monorail Trains Set
I can't resist today
It's rather simple, its the first monorail available (so far in developmet). It's a single car train made by Bombardier like the ones in Tampa International Airport.
Stats:
Name: Bombardier Single-Car Monorail Train
Designed: 1991
Weight: 30 tonnes
Consist: 1 car
Normal Speed: 70 km/h
Top Speed: 96 km/h
Power: 1,000 kW
Capacity: 40 passengers

Re: New Monorail Trains Set
ok
lawton27, you draw very fast
Bennythen00b, you better wait till tomorrow to code it. maybe lawton27 will come up with something new .
now you understand?

yes... i`ve skipped those posts
damn.. so no code for this.

Re: New Monorail Trains Set
I've made some more, these ones are more simple, I've mainly been trying to make more variations, I still need a coder
There's a freight Monorail, it's simply designed to be a freight conversion of the urban monorail.
Stats:
Name: Freight Monorail Train
Designed: 2004
Weight: 200 tonnes
Consist: 1 driving car, 9 carriages
Normal Speed: 100 km/h
Top Speed: 120 km/h
Power: 4,000 kW
Capacity: 300 bags of mail
Refits to: all but oil, water and passengers
There's a 'Hitachi City Link' Monorail, it's based off the Hitachi monorails in Okinawa and partialy on Sentosa Island.
Stats:
Name: Hitachi City Link Monorail Train
Designed: 2003
Weight: 200 tonnes
Consist: 2 driving cars, 4 carriages
Normal Speed: 120 km/h
Top Speed: 160 km/h
Power: 1,800 kW
Capacity: 240 passengers
And the SL5 Monorail based off the one used at Sunway City
Stats:
Name: SL5 Monorail Train
Designed: 2000
Weight: 200 tonnes
Consist: 2 driving cars, 4 carriages
Normal Speed: 135 km/h
Top Speed: 180 km/h
Power: 1,800 kW
Capacity: 200 passengers
WIP is a tanker conversion of the City Link for liquids, and plans for a futuristic monorail and early monorials.

Re: New Monorail Trains Set
If you want to learn .nfo codeing, then look at my post on this page:
http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... 3&start=20
There are lots of similarities with what you made there, and this train.
