Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
After passing Stipwich tunnel we've entered the narrow valley that leads to the "Fen". The valley is shared with the country road and the narrow gauge railroad leading to the power plant. At the end of the valley the mainline passes under the narrow gauge line and we start to travel along the "Fen" that is crossed by various railroads.

- You can spot the interurban line that links Nudston Fen Range station to Fen City. The interurban hosts also steel trains from the steel mill to the Burry Fen factory (we'll see it). Finally there is a narrow gauge line that comes down Minnings Range: passenger trains stop here while coal trains continue to the power plant (on the right).

Finally we've arrived at Fen City. The main station is under deep rebuilding as it is being transformed from terminal to through configuration. There are also plans to move the interurban terminal to the main station but at present nothing has been decided.

- Now it's time to take the streetcar to the interurban station.

Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
The first interurban leaving from Fen City was a Dronningville train, but we must go to Drintfingpool Bridge: so we've decided to take the Dronningville until Burry Fen and to wait there for the right train. Perhaps we can spot some freight interurbans at the Burry Fen Junction
.

- Yes, we are lucky! First the 0020 steeplecab has passed over the junction with an empty train heading to the steel mill. Now the diamond is hit by the 0010 with another empty destined to Burry Fen Woods siding (farm).

Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
We waited a long time at Burry Fen (there isn't a good service on the interurbans as they serve just very small communities), but now we are on the Drintfingpool Bridge car. Trains to this destination make the same route of the Dronningville trains until Dronningville Junction where the two routes diverge.

- Those bridges are part of the under construction mainline Fen City – Karterwood. This new line has caused the Fen City station reconstruction we saw before.

Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
At Drintfingpool Bridge the interurban line ends (for now
). To continue our travel we must walk a little until the nearby village of Sardingstone. Here we find the first opened section of the new mainline from Fen City where run steam pull-push trains. As soon as possible the interurban line will be extended to Sardingstone to permit a better service, but the local authority is opposing to this project
.

Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
Finally, we are at Karterwood, end of our travel. The station is not exactly in the town center because the RyRy has the ambitious plan to continue the mainline further south to Lakersbay (where there WAS that logging line with switchback, closed, but not yet dismantled, years ago). We'll see if this will become reality!

- Now it's time to find an accomodation for the night, tomorrow we'll leave again: next destination is Minnings Range narrow gauge railroad!

Very nice screens, and a good story too, would just look a bit better with longer trains, I think, but other than that very nice and neat

Eh eh eh, trains aren't longer because there is no need for more coaches! Only between Fen City and Rylesvalley it's necessary to reinforce a little the service, but this will happen when I'll complete the line to Karterwood.beeb375 wrote:Very nice screens, and a good story too, would just look a bit better with longer trains, I think, but other than that very nice and neat

It's 1931, now I have my first ships, planes and buses...

- The first RyRy bus (numbered 500) is running from Stipwich to Nudston Fen (route 31). The bus is indeed slow (the mining trains are faster...) but it is useful to shorten the distance between these two towns that are without a direct rail service.

Perhaps buses will be introduce between Nudston Fen and Minnings Range where the local passenger train service is unprofitable.

- Will see again in future a passenger train here? The narrow gauge line was once paralleled by an interurban that ended in Old Fen. This link was curtailed back at Nudston Fen as it doubled the narrow gauge railroad; although the track was removed, the ROW is still visible.

No, town replacements don't work on old buildings, you have to destroy old buildings and new will be part of the set.ivanfurlanis wrote:I HATE that buildingArtamir wrote:Rural and cute screens. There is a city full of casinos (Fen city) hahahaha
! I could switch to Total Town Replacement Set but I'm not sure how this will work on an already started game.

Finally I've just completed all the mainline along the southwestern side of the map with the last section Karterwood – Lakesbay. Construction was difficult because hilly terrain and wild forests, but at the end the iron won over nature

Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
Restart, restart, restart...
Grandunion Railroad 1913
Every time I play with (Open)TT i end in a great problem: i start to forget what routes my vehicles are doing and it becomes very hard to keep everything under control. So I decided to close the RyRy game shown before and to restart again keeping updated map and roster sheet as the network grows. On the map I show all the lines and stations; every railroad line has a series of three-digit numbers to represent the routes that uses it. A letter after the number is added to identify a freight service as shown:
C = coal
F = grain and livestock
G = goods
I = iron ore
O = oil
S = steel
V = valuables
W = wood
The first digit of the number is used to identify gauge, electrification and class of every route:
100 = 1st class (fast passenger trains) unelectrified standard gauge
200 = 2nd class (local passenger trains and freight) unelectrified standard gauge
300 = 1st class electrified standard gauge
400 = 2nd class electrified standard gauge
800 = 1st class narow gauge
900 = 2nd class narow gauge
The roster sheet shows in each row every train, road vehicle and ship; columns indicate the category of vehicles (narrow gauge train, trolley, ship, ecc. ecc.), the subcategory (steam, diesel, electric), the identificative number (or name for ships), type, consist (trains only), route number, route, and cargo. In this way it is easy for me to know how many trains run on a route, in a section of track or through a station; I can also stop to play the game and resume after some weeks without worrying to memorize everything.

- An overview of Rylesvalley Jct with three trains on the move: just south of the junction there is the 4-6-0 #234 with an empty stock train on route 902-F while on the adiacent track her sister #232 is heading a passenger train on route 903. In the northwestern corner is coming #237 with a goods train on route 901-G.

Grandunion Railroad 1916
Three years later and the Grandunion Railroad has just inaugurated its first standard gauge line between Rylesvalley South Station (the older narrow gauge station now it's called North Station) and Fen City (Fen Division) with two intermediate stations in Nudston Fen and Burry Fen. A third station should be built in Stipwich but locals refuse to grant the permission, of course
! Between Rylesvalley and Fen City there are two trains, a local passenger (route 200) and a fast non-stop passenger (route 100).

- The new standard gauge railroad has been laid down just between Stipwich passenger station and the freight-only line to Stipwich Farm. The varnish to Fen City, leaded by Pacific #2610, is rocketing at full speed on the new tracks; now the older #232, that runs between Rylesvalley North Station and Stipwich, has to fight with the new fly-over. If Stipwich had allowed the GURR to build a station on the Fen Division the town would have had a better service, but this is citizens' choice, not railroad's one!!

Grandunion Railroad 1917
In 1917 the Grandunion RR has completed the first section of the Mountain Division, an ambitious narrow gauge line that will connect Rylesvalley with the eastern end of the "world" crossing various mountain divides, narrow valleys and rivers.

Grandunion Railroad 1920
My own way to play with TT is to keep building new lines without stopping: when a new railroad is finished I start to extend my network before the inaugural train of the latest line has completed its run! So, after three years of the last installment, the Mountain Division has reached another town, Puntfingburg, while the standard gauge network has been connected to North Minning Factory to provide grain and livestock services from Nudston Fen.
