Number of Stations Limit
Hi,
While trying to simulate the Berlin subway system (yeah, yeah, too much time to spare, whatever), I ran into the station limit. Now, apparently I can't build anymore stations.
Seeing that little more than half is done of it, what can I do to increase that limit? Any chance to see something like that in the patch?
Thanks,
sebastian

Hi, and how many stations have you got? I haven't reached it yet !
250 seems to be the limit. That's how many I've built. The error message says something like "Too many stations/loading areas". The Berlin subway system has 170 stations and the rail system has at least as many. Add to that that some stations are split, you would easily get up to 400 stations.
I can't believe the Micropose developers would cap it at 250.[/i]

Well, I doubt the Microprose developers were thinking that someone would try to simulate an entire subway system using their game.
Also, it's not quite 250. Some names are permanently reserved for things like oil rigs. Because if TTD tried to create an oil rig and there was already 250 stations, it would cause a GPF or something similar.

How many boards would the Mongols hoard if the Mongol hordes got bored?

Really? That was probably the first thing that came to my mind. I've been trying to do this for years. I always failed though because I didn't start at the right place and would eventually run out of land. This time, everything was working fine until I hit that ridiculous limit.

It happened after I built the 250th station. There's really no recourse at this point, of course, other than to eliminate stations, something I would have preferred not to do.
Does anybody else know of a game/program like TT(D) that lets you set out trains like that? I tried my luck with Railroad Tycoon, but to be honest: IT SUCKS! I'm not interested in a simulation of railroad economics of the 19th century. I'm just trying to simulate a real-world subway system. Any pointers?[/i]
