Post by =SLJ=DownEast »

I tried 0.6.0 with 32bpp tar's that I had download and that worked in the Extra Zoom build, but I was unable to get 0.6.0 to show the never graphics. I followed the directions about setting blitter to 32bpp-simple (tried optimized too) and no go... I also had sprite_cache_size = 64....

As I said, the Extra Zoom build worked just fine....do I have to list the TAR's or something for the released version?

Thanks

They are for Extra Zoom only, not 0.6.0. You can use only those that are 64x31 (normal tile size). Admittedly, there are only a few available.

Most of new 32bpp requires the extra zoom build.

Aviators Aircraft Set? http://www.pikkarail.com/ttdp/av8/vehicles.htm It's listed as "JTech J-1" (no roku) on the page though.
* @Belugas wonders what is worst... a mom or a wife...
<Lakie> Well, they do the same thing but the code is different.

It works with the stable releases, don't worry.

I've returned to visit after a long hiatus, and it seems the OpenTTD world has indeed evolved. Since i must relearn everything, i wanna make sure that the DL is viable: does 0.6 still run under Windows 98? Does the DL have everything i need to get up and running again?

"Try it and see" usually works pretty well for me. I heartily recommend it.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

The win9x build should work on Windows 98. The download does not have everything to get it up and running; it does not contain the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe graphics/sounds/music.

I had to chuckle at your post. I just said to my wife earlier today while we were walking past EB at the mall... "Isn't it funny that there are all these games out and I'm spending all my time in a game that was released in 1995?"

And even more amusing, the idea of 1995 software running on quad-core with SLi. LOL. Kinda like following the old retired guy in his fancy sports car that's puttering along below the speed limit on the highway. :)

I have also this problem.

I only have the DOS Version of TTDLX and there is no trgir.grf file available.

So what should I do against this Error Message ?

It works with my TTD DOS grf files, so are all TTD DOS grfs and sample.cat in the data directory?

And game developers who made pretty advanced games for winXP between 2004 and 2007 didn't even get to make all their games compatible with Vista. I'm running a 1995 game at Vista without any problems

Gee i wonder why. Could it be because all these new-fangled, hi-tech, hi-speed games lack the intelligence of a well-thought out storyline and the simplicity of chess? Old games like Transport Tycoon, and others like Lode Runner and SimCity are simple to understand but challenging nonetheless. Graphics just hafta be workable, not even hi-end, and you'll have a winner. And with the ongoing work to improve TTD with open-sourcing, i can see us all playing it even 10 years later from now. AAMOF, we may find ourselves keeping our old computer even after we upgrade just so we can still play these old games. I'd be interested to know how much this happens, and for what games....

Heh, I still do have on old computer that can run such games as TTO, Civilization 1 and the like.
It's been around for ages, yet unlike this computer, it's never broken down. This one I end up fixing once a day on a good week.
