New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread (Works In Progress)

Re: New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread
I think the overall building shape for the new flats isn't very interesting, It looks very cubey... Try adding a mid level rail around the building, and some detail on the side windows might be nice.
Otherwise keep up the excellent work!

Re: New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread
Since this tropical block of flats is taking all the width of the tile, does it mean, that where there are two or more of them next to each other, they will 'stick' to each other to form one long building?
Re: New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread
UPDATE
If it good, I can start make other stages ot this building.

Re: New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread
How about air conditioning boxes hanging out of the windows?
Re: New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread
We should make the building as chronologically neutral as possible, because the same building is going to be used in the 1930s as well as late game... Isn't it? So air-con equipment wouldn't really fit in.

Whoops, I play the game and this building has been built about 1965, so my sattelitte dish is unusable too.
But air conditioning is good idea!

Good work Wacki, I'm impressed with how you have got the hedgerow to look in the render, I've had great difficulty with these in the past.

Nice, Wacki..I just wanted to mention that because of that 8bpp graphics replacement project, I guess I won't be modeling anything in near future..Although pngcodecing takes less time so sprites are always welcome.

I guess, that in the fist stage, the steel beams should be longer so as to support the balcony as well.
Re: New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread
It looks really nice, great work!
If I can be of any assistance to anyone, just tell me, only I'm not on the pc a lot
And I have never done graphics before but I would love to help, and I'm willing to give up (rare) free time for stuff like this

Re: New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread
Wacki: Again, really nice. I do think though that there needs to be a stronger link between the last two stages. I'm not exactly sure how the plaster(?) would be attached but maybe something like the attached could link them more? Note: something like this would be quick to do by using boolean on the the fully plastered buildings mesh.
I've now pretty much done all the grass sprites I think for the 3 layers, I've made lined and not lined, I've now altered the soil also so as it fits the changes to the shading in the grass, and I've made the 3 layers to that also, and its lined and unlined. I've also been messing about with some bump mapping to the sprite, and used it to create a bit more texture to the grass. Its very subtle but hopefully it hasn't created any dark dots that I can't pick up that may show up on a flat screen (for example). Lines is here, without lines is here. The 2 soil tars are attached here.
If someone wants to make tar's for the current zoom level then please do. Also if anyone wants to make changes to this grass then that would be great, as I have been working what seems like forever on these grass sprites, and I've really had enough for the time being. I'm going to alter the roads to fit, and then move on to something a little more motivating.
Talking of roads. Somebody commented a few pages back about how dark they should be. What is the general opinion on this. Originally it seemed that around the tone I've made them too is what was wanted, but I'd like to be sure before using them to make other models fit to.

Here's .tar: grass, bumpy grass and bare. All those things were scaled by Ben. In my opinion now it looks better now. Especially grass.
Sorry but o screenshot.

Hi all, again.
I made some little changes on my first tropical flats. What are you thinking about it?

Re: New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread
Wacki, while adding plaster(render?) is looking very good I think that it is usually done on whole house(or at least wall) at once, they can't stop in the middle. May be somebody with experience in construction can comment on that?
Re: New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread
But it might be a situation where they're in the middle of plastering the building, only you don't see anyone doing it.

Re: New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread
Wacki: I think the older one looks better. I like darker bricks.
Re: New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread
Are they using jetpacks for making plaster? Since I see no scaffolding That's something that surely must be there if they are making plaster.
Re: New Graphics - Blender ".blend" thread
But I haven´t place for build scaffolding!

I like "orange" bricks, the older brick looks for me very "pink".Soeb wrote:Wacki: I think the older one looks better. I like darker bricks.
