I was searching around various tt websites and found this one:

And on this page:

In the list of real life counter parts to tt building and i dont ever recall seeing the shopping centre it compares to 'The St. Enoch Shopping Complex in the center of Glasgow.' if any of you have ever seen this in your games? Maybe i am going mad. Maybe i have seen it back when i played tto but dont recall seeing it on any of my openttd games or ever when ive decoded a grf file.
Missing town building, or my own temporary brain melt down?
Re: Missing town building, or my own temporary brain melt down?
It's in trg1r.grf, sprites 4411 to 4417. I think it appears in-game, fairly late on (1980s?), but it's been so long since I've played a game without the TTRS that I can't remember for sure.
Re: Missing town building, or my own temporary brain melt down?
Out of sheer coincidence i saw it whilst playing yesterday but not under normal conditions. I had recently downloaded ttrs myself and was playing around with the cheat menu to see if i could get ukrs + ukrs industries to appear in the other climates (they wont do so without causing various ugly problems) when after flipping climates ttrs disappeared and reinstated the original buildings and many had turnned into this mysterious shopping centre.
Re: Missing town building, or my own temporary brain melt down?
ROFL. The shopping complex is a regular TTD building that appears quite often, but only in the later years, as DropZone said. There's nothing mysterious about it.

I havent had a game that has lasted past about 1980 for a very long time so i guess thats got a lot to do with it. My games are either done and dull by the 1970s or when using new grfs beyond all possible salvation. The joys of a learning curve designed by fans not a sales department i guess
