smooth snow transition

NEW VERSION (23. Nov 2007)

Hello

Following to this thread, I've created a grf, which make in the arctic climate a smooth transition from grass to snow (before there were three steps).

Download on my page: http://www.ttdx.ch.vu
or here

(no DOS grf available yet, will come later...)
[edit] avaiable now

[edit2] this grf has the CC BY-SA licence ( http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5/ch/ )

Looking REALLY good!

Don't know why Simon Foster didn't draw it like this in the first place.

As for the extra OTTD stuff: Put everything in one GRF and use an Action7 to determine what game is used.

That can be said for a lot of the graphics.

Then again, the tools available to him were a lot less than now. The story on his website seems to tell that story.

I've e-mailed him in the past asking him a couple of questions. Really nice bloke.

uuuuh, thats bad...

But i'm working for a Windows grf, that also works in OpenTTD, how FooBar saw it. There will also be included a clima ckeck, that doesn't load the grf, if its not arctic clima, that should remove this problem.

But it's not easy for a newgrf newbee, that doesn't speak perfect english... :(

It should be safe for Temperate too, especially where some sets provide for snow in Temperate, so you should only need to block Tropic.

Hi Addi,

Looks good, I like it. Any chance of doing the same with the Japanese Landscape tiles? I really like them and I play most of my games with those activated.
Either way, great work so far. keep it coming.

Gruäss uf Schaffhuuse.

But this set simply replace the original sprites, The sets which provide snow to temperate have their own grfs, because there is other grass. Therefore will this set anyway not work in temperate. Or does it?

I'm finished with the new grf, it work im Patch and in OpenTTD and the tropic bug is gone, but now I'm not sure if i should block just tropic or all climas apart from arctic...

@The Irish: Isn't japanese landscape just temperate grass? afaik isn't there any snow...

gruess us Schaffhusä :)

It wasn't a complaint, I just found it kind of funny and unexpected. :)

You probably want to block Toyland too

As for temperate:
It should work there too (if snow in temperate is enabled, of course). The same sprites are used for that IIRC.

Ok, here is the new grf (download in first Post) or on http://www.ttdx.ch.vu

fixed:
- Win version now also for OpenTTD
- Some wrong Pixels fixed (they were pink (ottd) or black (ttdp) before)
- snow in tropic clima is fixed (grf just load in arctic clima)

and a DOS version is avaiable (can someone please check, if it work?)

I've made again a new Version, now the grf has also a smooth snow transition in arctic AND temperate climate :)

Download in the first post or on my page http://www.ttdx.ch.vu

The grf load in the arctic climate a transition with arctic grass and in the temperate climate a transition with temperate grass. If you use a grf which insert temperate grass in the arctic climate, you must set the parameter 0 for temperate grass there!
