Game End?
Game End?
Hi guys,
I was just wondering, what year does the game end?
Do you just get a message saying this game is now over or can you play on indefinitely and you just stop getting new vehicles?
If so, what is the date that you stop getting new vehicles? (I havn't had a new train for about 20 years since the 2 eletric ones)
Also, what does the max upgraded HQ look like? I've noticed it changes over time. Is this just to do with how long you have been playing or is it affected by how well you are doing etc?
If so, how can you improve it?
Thanks very much for any help!
Kind regards,
Jack.

Re: Game End?
The "official" end date is 2030 in TTO, or 2050 in TTD.Jack_606 wrote:I was just wondering, what year does the game end?
You can play indefinitely if you're using TTDP or OTTD. The game year stopped updating in 2071 or something in TTD - you could still play indefinitely, it's just that it was 2071 over and over.Do you just get a message saying this game is now over or can you play on indefinitely and you just stop getting new vehicles?
Vehicle data stops being updated around 2050. The last allowable introduction date is 2044, but when your last vehicle actually gets introduced will depend on the grfs you are using. If so, what is the date that you stop getting new vehicles? It looks like this:Also, what does the max upgraded HQ look like?
By improving your performance rating. Exactly how the performance rating is calculated depends on whether you're using TTD, TTDP or OTTD.If so, how can you improve it?
Re: Game End?
Theoretially indefinitely, but around 2500 the game will break due to inflation bugs ... and at year 4000 it will be basically completely screwed (64bit int is not enough :)PikkaBird wrote: You can play indefinitely if you're using TTDP or OTTD. If you turn off inflation, you may probably play really indefinitely.
If you need something, do it yourself or it will be never done.

Thanks a lot but I am really getting confused with all the acronims!
Could someone please tell me in plain english what is the most recent, up to date version of the game that I can download, including any patches and graphic updates etc, and where I can download it (for windows)
I am not all that fantastic with computers so if you could tell me the simplest installer(s) to get and the best place to get them I would be very grateful! (I would be extra specially grateful if someone could put up some thorough install instructions as well!)
Thanks so much for your continued help guys!

Well you can get the original game from this list:
http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=3407
then get TTDP from http://www.ttdpatch.net , or OpenTTD from http://www.openttd.org .
If you have all the graphics files from the downloaded version saved or installed, you can input that directory into the OpenTTD installer (0.5.2 version).
I'm not sure about TTDP though.
New graphics can be found here http://grfcrawler.tt-forums.net. putting them in OTTD is easy, just put them in the data directory and activate them in NewGRF settings in the game itself. Again, I don't know about TTDP.

Taken from uncyclopediaWays of Preventing Death:
* Don't breathe air. Seriously. Everyone born before 1870 breathed the substance at some point in their life and every one of them is dead today. A coincidence? I think not.
For Patch, you unzip the file you downloaded and then drop the patch executable into that directory.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

...and mkpttxt.exe
The occasional look back at your past can teach you a great many things...
Re: Game End?
Yes, but only if you have need of modifying ttdpttxt.dat. TTDPatch works just fine without mkpttxt.exe or any of the ttdpttxt.* files.
