Night Screen Shots (+very basic tutorial)

Post by Geo Ghost »

I've started this topic to show people how to edit screen shots to make them appear to be at night.

If there are any spelling errors, or mis-understandable bits, please let me know and i will make a quick edit and update when i can.

Another little note, I've gone through the tutorial in Macromedia Fireworks. It shouldnt be much different, appart from the layout, for most other editing programmes.

Enjoy everybody

Edit: Download is now all in one with jpg files.

Night time is always not on, only in the patch I think, or open ttd, or simutrans there are night time.
We just edit the screen-shots to make them look night.

Like d00mh4mm3r said, these are just screen shots that have been edited to make it look like night. there is a night programme around which can turn night mode on and off.

I still think some of the lights are a bit.. drastic.

Trains don't really have lights to see what's happening, seeing as they don't really have a choice where they're going anyhow. No need to see where the road - or, in this case, track - takes you because there's no way to steer away :)
They have lights so other people can see them coming, as far as I know. I don't think there are a lot of trains with entire spotlights on the front that will shine over 2 cells of TTD :)

I wouldnt mind having a train, and doing it up
Put flame paint on the side, spots lights out front, put a reator inside, mmm, sweet speed (turning will be big problem)

And heres the original. This was actually done fairly quickly compared to most other ones. just proves that with practise, it becomes easier with less errors

I can't understand the extreme high-beam headlights on the north-bound train? Othwise, it's one of the ones I like.

Enjoy! :D

Edit: Tips and Tricks may be added if i can think of some good ones to make and post!

You're exaggerating now, IMO. I think you should turn the light effects on those screenies down a little.

WOW!

Is there any reason the lights of the offices are on, but the lights in the houses are off?

Wow that is good, as Purno said, lighting in the houses and also in the station halls and on platforms will be good. I'm glad to see you have not gone for the overkill with the front lights of the trains looks much better for it.
