OK this morning, before work I had a few idea's.
I like to add newgrf's and play games, but that data folder is crowded with all the other grf's that the game needs to play (elrails, signals, etc etc etc) which can make finding the newgrf's installed a little hard to find (specially if they have a close name to other newgrf's).
So the first idea is this.
Would it be possible to combine all the grf's that a basic install of openttd needs into a single file?
Also, how about a system like TTDpatch where you have a seperate folder for newgrfs, which brings me onto my 2nd idea.
If using a folder for grf's, how about having the game look in there to start with and loading up the titles of the grfs, then in game, on the main screen before you start you are able to select which newgrfs you want to play with on that game, of course you would have to disable loading ALL newgrfs before the title screen loads up.
The advantage, well just imagine this: You start a new game and you select for that game say the dbsetxl trains and other newgrfs, after a while you want to play a game with differant grfs, instead of having to edit the openttd.cfg file, instead when you start a new game you can just select differant grfs (like ukrs) and then when you load a game, it automatically loads up the required grfs.
I admit that this may break save game compatability, if it looks like it will do, then forget it. But it would be intresting to have that ability.
