Few suggestions

Post by nikolaci »

First the text, than the pics. It would be nice to disable trees growin one tile next to road or rail, cause it's blocking the view, but at the same time to be possible to plant a tree next to a road (for those who like it). I usually play without sound effect, but it's not saved with the game, so when i load the game i have to turn off the sounds every time. And last from text requests is vehicle loading times, both busses and truck, if it could be something like game speed (-1,0,1...) where 0 is normal load time and let's say 1 is instant load and go :)
Now the pics. First is the town statistic in which you must use slide bar to get to bribe loacal authority. I think that there is space for extending it, so that you don't have to scroll down. Second is cargo stations. Just like train stations if it could be possible to make more in one station. Third is about raising land at bridge base. If it could be rissen just like with houses. Fourth, probably impossible, but when i saw that now you can lay diagonal tracks with ease, maybe it could be done with tunnels too :)) And last fifth, totally impossible (i think), two bridges crossing normally :))
Of course these are small things, game is great without any changes :)))

Though I believe the diagonal tunnel idea to be impossible, I have some difficulty as to understand why.

Since the train "disappears" graphically (and gamewise too right?) when entering the tunnel, is it not possible to make it "reappear" in a different direction?

As for the crossing bridges thing... It's not exactly realistic... and if you want a crossing bridge, raise a land piece in the middle of the water and place a crossing that way.

As for the raising land under bridge thing, i've noticed this too... any solution as yet found?

And for the depots... I seem to remember Josef mentioning something about this being impossible since trucks/busses wouldn't use the second one?

Tunnels are not exactly "wormholes", e.g. you can follow your train with the corresponding train window.

This may be possible if there were diagonal enterances, which is impossible.
Currently, train that enetered i.e. nortwestern enterance of tunnel will continue to go underground by the time it spots next tunnel enterance (which must be oriented northwest, too.

simply make tunnel entrances go in the same way and don't allow to build tunnel entrances going in different directions...

the train should move like stairs steps

Code: Select all

O-
  -
   -
    -
     -O
and not sloped

Code: Select all

O\
  \
   \
    \
     \O
but is invisible and don't bother

Of the images,
1) Possible but pointless in my view.
2) Impossible.
3) Not sure? I don't think autoslope works with, and for a good reason...
4) Impossible.
5) Impossible.

Oskar and Josef would know more than me, I'm not 100% sure on some of those. :)

This one doesn't need a patch, actually, it's already possible. It isn't too intuitive to find, but it's there nevertheless. This is how you can do it:
  1. Set up your Jazz Jukebox in the way you would like it to stay (you can adjust volumes, start/stop music, select programme)
  2. Click the "Program" button in the jukebox window
  3. Click "Save" in the window that appears
Next time you start TTD, the jukebox will be in the state you set it up.

I was talking about sound effects volume not music volume, and what about wehicle loading time and trees next to roads and rails?

...and if you had spent 30 seconds on actually trying the method I've shown, you would have noticed that it saves the sound effect volume as well

They will be done if someone feels like doing them. That someone won't be me, though...

That's been done since 06 Dec 2003, just load the grf. Try reading the patch FAQ some time.

That's strange, because it has always worked for me, both in the DOS and Win versions.

Maybe you have SNDSAVE.DAT read only?
