I'd like to see the 125(Class 43) done by you or ben_robbins_ too, since both of your models are the highest quality ones I have seen. :P

It was, up until a few years back, the world speed record holder for diesel trains. It was so popular, it was exported to Australia as the XPT. Although they toned down the engines, for some reason, even though the track there is flatter and straighter.

Thank you, but the fact is that Ben_Robbins' models are way better than mine (and this is not something I say to make you say "no, they are not). When I make a model I need a line drawing or a 3view drawing to be able to do anything. I know my limits so I will leave it to others.

Cinema latest

Post by Off the Rails »

This is the very latest incarnation of the 1x1 cinema. Still to add are some kind of fencing along the balcony, some movie posters, and more detail around the back (which you can't see on this shot; have a look at the zip.)

Obviously, all texturing and extra lighting is temporary. The colours were supposed to be dirty white (the balcony, column and fins) and dirty beige (the rest of the building). The green was a miscalculation. Who ever saw a green cinema??
Could you email me my free drink?
I think you misunderstood that Ben..

There are a few things about it on the development forum. It lives in its own SVN branch and is more or less playable, but there are various crucial bits missing - like the ability to use 32bpp sprites, which is pretty critical to getting these graphics working in-game :-)

Its very nice, but its still a bit dull - all the cinemas Ive known (even going back 30years) were fairly gaudy with lots of lights. Our current one has a spectacular glass front.

Could you add some spotlights mounted on the awning, shining their lights up the wall?? Or perhaps some extra neon strips along the edges of the roof front & stairwell edge?? I think that would look better.

Having travelled the North Coast Line on the XPT, I can tell you that is certainly not the case...

You're definitely comparing it to the UK tracks? (:

I have no idea what that futuristic helicoter on the wiki is supposed to be, so I made this based on the Bell QTR. It is about the same size as a C-130 Hercules.

The Guru X2 is nothing, so jsut have fun with it, but remember to keep it consistent with the stats. In this case, 55 passengers and 20 bags of mail. The V-22 Osprey or that one you made is cool. The Tricario is the Sikorsky S62.

btw, isn' the tail missing from that QTR, the concept art I've seen has a tail.

It seems some versions have a tail.

Born Acorn: Ill have a go at that train...125 (class..something or other) tommorrow. Ive kinda got comptuer sorted, so should be able to get on with it i hope...

Thanks for the compliments...but we are the 'only two' people to have done trains!...soooo um, yey.

I remember reading somewhere austraila has the longest stretch of straight flat track in the world, somewhere between perth and sydney. Shorely in Australia you would want to go faster as well, just casue it takes so long to get places.

Crazy Vaclav: You made your T-46 from a really poor reference image, (i think it was that one) and that was extreamly inpressive that you could make so much from it. A reference image is always vital, espeically if you no next to nothing on what you modeeling, like i do.

Your Helicopters are all very different to one another wich is quality, and all the finely modelled bits like the propellers are bitchin. It looks like many, many hours of work in that image on the last page. Youve even got the bend/Drooping in the motionless chinook wings...I think your modesty is motivating your perfectionism!

But how complicated was the t-46? It was basically a big block without any curved corners. That locomotive we are talking about now is a totally different thing, and I don't think you can compare the two. But anyway, thanks for the compliments.

ow some additions to the image: the idea is that trucks these days are all semi-trailer or loaded with special platforms @ height of the truck's goods this is the open bit in my picture, i would like to make it better but i just had a go lolz

for someone who does know how to use blender and who wants to have a go at truck station

my idea was to make it kina warehouse looking with terminals for the trucks ( 2-4 trucks on special docking places where the truck can really load and unload @ platform like these days

also i would like to see a sort of company colored roofedge or gate and some other company related stuff on the ground around it...

again not my best pic just showing you that i can do extrude, grab, simple subsurf (i can do the catmull clark as well but its no good for buildings (yet)

any feedback is welcome lol:-P

Thats what real ones look like, but we need one that operates the same way as TTD does right now.
