[Fixed] Land above tunnels can be lowered

Post by Mojo'D »

I didnt discover this one it was shown to me in a game.

It seems its possible to lower the land above above a tunnel when it would normally give you the error "Escavation would damage tunnel".

Put 4 diagnal pieces of track down so there is space in the centre for the land to be lowered like in the 2nd picture, then lower the land between the track. When you cant position all 4 diagnal track pieces the land can usally be lowered with 2 or 3 pieces of track.

Repeat this until you have lowered enough space to put a 2 way track down.

There is one problem with this, if you send a train down a track going over the tunnel at the same level, it can crash with a train passing through the tunnel.

It can be done to road tunnels but I havent tried to see what happens to road vehicles are in the tunnel when a train passes over them.

I did that with 0.4.0.1 and I just tried it in r3211 and it can be done in that one too.

Someone else has discovered this bug and glx has made a patch to fix that, but (I don't know why) that patch has been merged yesterday instead of month ago.
Anyway I'm glad you've added it, peter1138

This operation will cause a train crash  . When the top train meets the under ground train. You get a crash. Fun to watch the above train spin around then die :D .

MeusH, it's because there's more to life than OpenTTD.

Just not much more...
