If you're having problems with OpenTTD, then you should probably have posted in an OpenTTD forum.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

You have to place the grfs in the data folder of OpenTTD.
Not all the TTDPatch grfs do work on OpenTTD though.
Better ask for further assistance in the OpenTTD forums, they are the experts after all.

I have TTD with the patch, although not the new alpha, I have patch 2.0 Rev 1 from the ttdpatch site.

Ive loaded up the new grf's into the newgrf folder but when i set newstrains on and electrifiedtrains on in ttdpatch.cfg it crashes the game as soon as i load it. I copy and pasted both from the manual so its not a typo in the cfg file.

Will installing the new alpha fix this problem, or is the problem somewhere else entirely?

It's probably a GRF file that does something that 2.0r1 doesn't support. Get the latest alpha, and if it still happens, post the latest crashlog (CRASH###.TXT)

I installed the newest alpha patch and in the graphics manager it has the;

Arctics set (6D620104)
Tropic set final 1.00 (414B2000)
Temperate set (D620204)

all come up with red flags.

These are all from the new grfs from ttdpatch.net so they should work.

I've tried changing the cfg file to add things and its when I do this that I have problems even though all the modifications are cut and pasted from the TTD Patch manual PDF.

Well, then, click the red flag for the appropriate one, and then click apply. Each can only be activated in its appropriate climate, so at most one of those three may be active at any one time.

If the GRF were actually broken, it would appear with a grey flag; see http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php ... atusWindow.

AFAIK, the patch has never had a PDF manual; the manual is currently at http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php?page=Manual, and will probably remain there permenantly.

The 2.0 version has two PDF manuals at http://www.ttdpatch.net/doc.html

Still, there's nothing there that's not also in the wiki.
