Missing vehicles, where did my trains, cars, ships go?

It started when me and a buddy tried the TTD patch via multiplayer. I know it doesn't work now however this was when I noticed it.
It was a fresh install of everything and when I checked out the Singleplayer afterwards I was missing everything.
All I could buy was railroad cars in the 1970's...
No locomotives, no ships, no buses no nothing.
I tried a reinstall still the same result.

Now I am wondering how can I get them back? Is this a common issue?
My system specs:

AMD Athlon XP-M 512kb cache
512Mb DDR PC 3200
Epox 8RDA+
Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4600
Windows XP Service Pack 2

Latest drivers installed for motherboard and graphics.

Have you tried the cheat "cht:resetvehicles"
