I think your set has to have the code to cooperate with LV set. It has to:
1) Test if ANY of the LV files is loaded to FIX the cost and running cost
2) Test if ANY of the LongBuses is loaded or will be loaded to fix AR,TE and other params
3) Test if ALL of the LongBuses are BEFORE the current set
I'll look into it, although I might just end up deactivating this set if the LVs are present.

Well, it's a little difficult to make it "co-operate", since you've used different values from the normal ones.

This is what I've done (I'll upload the changed files in a minute): my set now enforces the default cost bases (which makes George's vehicles much too cheap). However,

1) if George's buses are to be loaded after this set, this set will deactivate itself.

2) if you load only George's trucks after this set, then it won't deactivate, but the LV cost bases will be used (which will make these buses much too expensive).

That seemed to be the best compromise.

Edit: Okay I have updated the zip file.

You can specify them too. It is possible to code the rules I've posted above.

I think it is a bad solution. Then I have to deactivate my sets if your set is AFTER LV set, that would make sets INCOMPATIBLE. Are you sure that you want it?

I have specified them (as the default), but they're global values. Unless you know a way to make the values for the running/purchase costs different for different grf files, then this set is going to be incompatible with the LVs.

But you can specify action 1 depending on them
But I suggest you to use a better solution. Specify the cost with my x8 base and specify the same cost base. You can also specify correct cost for all the trucks for the case when LV are not used

or just go ahead and keep it incompatible with LV and save a lot of work...

It's not as if everyone (or even the majority of people) uses LV...

/me nods

Yeah, and anyway, once PikkaBird does freight vehicles having the two sets co-exist wont really work anyway.

/me nudges PikkaBird to create the freight vehicles.

No feuding from me.

I've mainly created my grfs for my own enjoyment, and since I don't use the LVs myself I'm happy to leave them as they are now. As Korenn said, making them totally compatible with the LV set would be a lot of work. Also seeing as my buses are in a completely different style from the LVs, I can't see why anyone would want to be using both at the same time.

As for me doing trucks.. well, maybe. I'm working on other things at the moment though. :D

I agree.
Love your buses, and would rather have some freight vehicles from your side, then make it compatible.
Nothing against Georges LVs but as you say, they are completely different style and just don't match the rest of your Set. So I'd suggest keep doing your own thing.

PikkaBird ... go with what you've got. Do some trucks for your set. The only reason I used your busses and George's LV's together was to get a mail truck at the start of the game.
George's LV's are great but not necessarily appropriate in all scenarios. Its good to have a selection to chose from depending on the type of game you want to play.
There are several sets that are incompatible with one another. Its no big issue. (Unless you like to overcharge your passengers and make them get out and push  )
I'm watching this thread for new stuff so keep it coming. :D

I've added Model Ts for mail and goods. The Ts have also got a bit of a speed boost - up from 17 to a blistering 20 miles per hour. I used one of George's barrels for the load on the goods truck.

Still working on more trucks. :)

I am really enjoying using this bus set in my tropic game. It makes servicing the (small, angry and annoyingly resilent to growth*) towns with buses viable :)).

Thanks.

*P.S. I have to give them food before they grow, I know ;).

Well, it is not a good idea to use someone's graphics without asking a permission, but as soon as you'll ask me I give you a permission to use any of my graphics.

Yes, you can use any of my graphics, except whose, which are made by Michael Blunk and others and which you can find in my sets. You have to ask their authors for permission to use them

Pikka, one thing I noticed about this set compared to TTD's default. THe Running costs are about 10X what they should be IMO. The Model T costs $13K to purchase and 13K to run for a year, it should be about $1,500 max. I love the set, but the running costs are killing me :D

Then you must be using another set which is changing the running cost values (like the LVs  ).

*Checks in game*

Ford 'Model T' Bus (In 1932) Cost: $13,776 Op Cost: $1,574/yr

And that's on Running Costs = 'High'.
