Passanger train crawling at 1km/h up the hill

Post by Greno Zee »

Hi!

I couldn't find a solution to my problem even after searching all the resources for 4 hours, so i want to try this way ;)

My passanger trains seem to effected by the freighttrains switch as well. I have a feeling they are effected even more but didn't run any tests on that. The game started with freighttrains=10 (I believe) but any changes, even switching this off don't seem to have effect.

My settings:
OS: Win XP Professional
TTD: Windows version
TTDPatch:
- game started with A50
- current A52
Train Set: DB Set XL (v0.82)

I'd appriciate any hints of what I might be doing wrong. Thanks ahead...

That´s normal.

You´re train is weighing 330 tons and that hill is steep ...

This has nothing to do with that freighttrains switch (BTW, a factor of 10 would be far too heavy, anyway)

I see - sorry, never came to my mind to check the actual weight.
But then, what could pull 6 car express trains in 1928? BR38 is the strongest there is for this period in your fantastic DB set...

it can pull but not with such high slopes ... 1 or max 2 square heights are fine
what are you looking at? it's a signature!

Well, for climbing steep hills, it´s not the power that´s be decisive but tractive effort (TE). Of course, the BR38 has also a relatively high TE of 138 kN in 1928. Maybe an electric loco like the BR152 w. 196kN would do better (I´ll introduce the E91 w. 300kN in the next DBXL version, BTW), but I doubt because the problem is that your grade is fairly long.

You may check out some of the pictures in the pictures thread

http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=1628

on how to built lines in the mountains avoiding that trouble.

Another, but doubtful, possibility would be to disable realistic acceleration by changing curves and mountains switches:

Thanks for the feedback!
I'm aware of all the other possibilities how to climb hills and I spend hours in the pictures thread ;).
It just never crossed my mind I could run onto this level of realism :P It's been long time since I played last time. and then I never encountered this :)
So sorry for spamming this thread...
