Hehehehe!

Now THATS pure cruelty. :)
Could I take some lessons from you?

Hehehe! I can't take all the credit for this idea. 'T'was Christie!
I'm reminded of a very old film "10 Rillington Place" Anyone heard of it?

"Christie did it!"

Being one of the 'elder statesman' here, yes I have seen it. Not a bad
film - quite a graphic execution scene as I recall (though that was
Timothy Evans) - sad detail alert, in Pierrepoint's memoirs he reckoned
it took 12 seconds, on screen it took about twice that. You never saw
Christie get the drop though.

This is not necessary. It seldom occurs that you receive spam twice from the
same address.
I killfiled "money", "free" and "$" and "000". This is OK for the most
common spam in e-mail and usenet.
Fortunately my new provider seems to have a spam-filter. I almost have seen
no spam since then. Almost. Some hard core remains always.

There are some mails requesting a reply with "remove" to not receive e-mail
again. I never replied and never heard again from that address anyway.

I am very pleased that the few spams in the past did not cause threads.

Simu is a native X-Windows application. No need to use WINE or something
else to get it running with Linux. I've testet it with Solaris and HP-UX
as well and it runs fine on every X-Windows/unix system I have access
to.

The DOS port was jut to suit the gamers world.

Won't TTDLX work under DOSEMU under Linux? I'm asking because I've
found myself with an old spare hard disk, so I've dusted off my Linux
disks and started to play with it again. It would be worth knowing if
it was worth trying.

No it won't, which is a pain. The problem is that DOSEMU is a
Protected mode application, and TTDLX needs to run under real mode
DOS. It may work under VMWARE, but It will be very slow. HTH

The game looks nice.
I'll sure want to download it, but my knowlage at German is as low as
possible.

Can you make an English version? For people like me? :-)

Hi,

I'm working on a ordinary, tile-based TTDLX clone. This will not be
3D.
By now the basic stuff works, i.e. building roads, railroads and
stations, buying cars and trains and transporting cargo with the
vehikels works. Basic industry is also also done.

Reading all the talking about 3DTT, I'm unsure if I've done the right
thing to make this a non 3D program?

Peter (chief architect of 3DTT) made me aware of this newsgroup, so I
take the chance and ask: Is there someone interested in a non 3D
TTDLX
clone?

If you wan't to see, what I'm talking about, take a look at:
(Until I find a better name the thingy is called "simu" as a short of
"transport simulation".)

Introduction and two Screenshots:
http://members.rotfl.com/hjm/simu/simu.html

Manual and Documentation:
http://members.rotfl.com/hjm/simu/simdoc/simdoc.html

-> Unfortunately, at the moment, the game and all cocumentation is
german only, but the screenshots should be viewable in any language
:-)

The current version of the program can be downloaded from:
http://hajo.homepage.com/english/downloads.html#top

Peter told me to make an english version ASAP but besides working on
the
game, there's nearly no time to translate all the stuff in a
reasonable
time. But if there are enough complaints, I'll make it english for
sure!

An localized/internationalized version of the game will come for
sure,
but up to now there was too much basic work to be done.

Now, I'm just curious if I'll becoming flamed or praised :-)

Sure :-)

A first translated version is already out there. Its version number is
v0.64a

You can download it from:
http://hajo.homepage.com/english/download.html

If downloading doesn't work, just send me an e-mail, and I'll e-amil a
copy of Simu back to you.

This version is about one week old, in the meantime I found three
untranslated messages, and a few bugs. The next version will be released
next monday (februray 7th).

I have also started to translate the documentation, the "overview" page
and the "known bugs & future plans" page are already translated. I hope
to get the user manual translated until february 21st.

If you want to take a look at my simulation, follow this url:
http://members.rotfl.com/hjm/english/simu/simu.html
(The manual is not yet translated to English, so I want to apologise for
the broken link to the manual).
