Visitors to my site

Post by Edward Bernard »

The lovely visitor counter tells me that out of todays 59 visits, 30 of them
were from Australia. I don't know how they are finding the site. It's only
on the webring. And there aren't that many from Australia on the NG.

Oh and Rick....my visitor logs also tell me...that I have had a visitor
using a 1600*1200 resolution. Perhaps this person is someone who likes going
round the TT sites. It would be nice to know who it is. 84% of visitors are
using 800*600.

A surprising statistic, that only 1 visitor was using Netscape, and the
other 58 were either using IE4 or IE5.

Rick, or anyone in the know could they please tell me what the hell 'Your
own configuable domains' and 'Your own configureable referrers' are.

Eddie

I am probably the one using 1600x1200.

I recently acquired TTDX and am addicted to it. :) Your site is pretty

I don't see any reason either
Netscape can't interpret many HTML tags and CSS elements, also it makes difficulties with javascript. I also hate it because it keeps crashing.
I even stopped surfing the web with Linux becaures there is no better browser for X11

For one thing, Netscape doesn't hog up memory like IE does. Number 2, mine
never crashes and never has, except when I played my one internet turn-based
game. Of course, I tried IE and it wouldn't run it at all. Number 3, Netscape
supports Quicktime. Number 4, if Netscape can't interpet many HTML tags, why
can I see blinking text, hmmmm? Number 5, Netscape let's you work offline so
you can load files from the cache. Number 6, if a website doesn't load with
Netscape, it simply comes up with a dialog box to click. IE comes up with this
frivolous screen that takes several seconds to load and asks you if you want to
know why the webpage wouldn't load. I don't care. And Number 7, the most
important one, if you are using Winblows 98 and Netscape crashes, it won't mess
up the system. It does (at least on mine) if you use IE.

There. Is that good enough?

Why would you want <BLINK> on your site anyway? Its just a little annoying

And another pain this not being able to set peramiters for the <HR>

I've often had problems with IE locking up when I tried to load several
programs at once. It only took about three other programs (AOL, Rollercoaster
Tycoon and The Drawing Board) before it crashed...
Number 2, mine never crashes and never has, except when I played my one
internet turn-based

AFAIK so does IE5?
Nope. IE5 tries to use the crappy Winblows Media Player.
Number 4, if Netscape can't interpet many HTML tags, why
can I see blinking text, hmmmm?

Why would you want <BLINK> on your site anyway? Its just a little annoying

I don't know why I'd want blink, but eventually I'll design a sight to show you
why, hmm?

So you've got a horizontal rule. A 4K Gif isn't going to make much of a
difference, really.
Number 5, Netscape let's you work offline so you can load files from the
cache.

So can IE5. You can set it to go and tell you when the site has changed and
THEN tell it to update.
Yes, but you can't specifically work off-line with it, can you? Whenever you
try to run it it'll start giving you 404 errors if there's no internet access
at the time.
Number 6, if a website doesn't load with Netscape, it simply comes up with
a dialog box to click. IE comes up with this
frivolous screen that takes several seconds to load and asks you if you

with the server or something like that..
I for one would like to see WHAT has gone wrong with the page if it dosen't
come up..
Yes, but I know what a 404 error is. I know that that means I probably uploaded
the file in caps or not in caps or something like that.

Of course, if it was another error I might look at it... but most of the time I
found it annoying.
And Number 7, the most important one, if you are using Winblows 98 and
Netscape crashes, it won't mess
up the system. It does (at least on mine) if you use IE.

Hmm...Never had a catastrophic event with IE4/5.....EVER........So I'm not

I've never had problems with frames in Netscape.

Of course, I'm seeing less and less sites with frames now. More of them are
resorting to a more streamlined thing with no borders... like http://www.hotgames.com.
