Ratings

Post by Boudewijn Dijkstra »

A whole lot of people on this NG wrote they wanted to improve their ratings.
Sometimes even so badly, they would like to lose profit to get those ratings
high!

If I start with a medium range coal, wood or valuables train, I hardly ever
worry about ratings that are already above 50%. If I can't build in/near a
city, I just check that again every year, and after a few years it's fine!
Or I build a road network around passenger stations to ensure city growth,
but let's get back to the topic.

I always cut the trees around stations (to see stuff), and sometimes put
more vehicles to work to get the ratings above 50%, and I make lots of
money, so what are you people whining about?

Hi,

You are right, most of the time I don't worry too much what my station
ratings are. It only becomes a bigger issue when the competition plops
down a station next to mines and always seems to maintain a nigher
rating and take away all your cargo, then the train profits go down.

Okay there are lots of dirty tricks one can employ, but originally I
was trying to fight a clean fight.

I was also wondering if anyone knew the formual for how the ratings
were worked out,

eg rating = 'no. of times trains vist per months' * 'rate cargo
removed' + 'newness of train' ....

Regards,
Steve.
