Ha ha.....funny really but I have a question about TT..........Strange I
know..... B-)

Does anybody know wether or not you can improve you stateur within a town?

I am now at a point in a game where certain towns won't alow me to build
things such as trains and bus routes, even tho' there is a subsidy posted
for it...

I have tried the usual 'Fund new buildings' and suchlike but to no
avail......

The cargo ratings for that city are probably too low, try putting more
and/or newer vehicles to work.

Easy one this - simply plant as many trees as you can all around the
town and watch your rating start to grow! You should be able to build
again after a few minutes

There is only one way which really works. Plant lots of trees. Fund new
buildings never works, and ad campaigns only work for your stations and
suchlike.

There are only two things that increase you rating with the towns, as
far as I can make out. The first is providing good passenger and mail
services (they don't seem to care about anything else). This is not a
lot of use if they won't let you build a station in the first place,
however. These days, before I raise or lower land anywhere near a
town, I always build at least a bus station. Even if I don't use it
immidiately, it's there when I want to get back in with the Town
Council.

The second is planting trees (bizarre, but true). Try planting 50 or
so as close into the town as possible. With luck, it might just raise
your rating enough to get a bus station. Then shove in a couple of
buses, set them to "Load", and within a year or so you'll be back in.

If not, all you can do is wait (don't demolish anything or raise or
lower land in the vicinity in the meantime) and usually in about 20
years, they will let you back in.

Hi Trikky,

If you did not already know, chopping down trees kills your rating
with the local council. So one tip (too late I guess), is to build
your stations first then chop these trees.

You can check your ratings with the local council from the same menu as
you 'fund new buildungs' and the like. I've forgotten the name of the
tab. Your rating may be something like, 'appalling', 'poor' (sounds
like you know about that already).

Another reason for not being able to build stations (I read on another
web site, forgotten the url), is the town has run out of names it uses
for station names. Try renaming a station near where you want to plant
one and see if that helps (if your local council rating is already
high).

Hello.

What about planting lots of trees near the city?
Assuming it won't be enough, I suggest you (re-)move the railways/roads
which are located in the city "area" to another location (Tunnels built
under a city and airports both have a very bad influence on your company
reputation).
It could take more than one year to take effect, but as soon as you will be
considered as
poor ("pauvre" on my French version) by the local authority, you will be
able to build a new station.

Ha......typical.....I knew this worked for grabbing cargo from your
competitors stations, but I didn't know it could be used for towns..

Nah, my problem was that I couldn't START any presence in the town as the Ai
won't let me!!

It wouldn't have been as much of a problem if I already had a depot of
something in there!!

From all the other posts about this I figured you meant you can't start with
'stationing' a city. My mistake.

I found out your city rating also drop if you have a not-so-very-good-rated
station within or on the local authority borders.

Do you mean that they won't allow you to build trains, or stations?

I have never heard of a *town* refusing to allow you more trains. If you have
reached the limit on the number of vehicles, then you will not be allowed to
build any more until you have sold some; this applies to any town.

Towns will refuse to allow you to build a station if you have a very low
rating with them. You get a low rating by (a) lots of landscaping, especially
if you leave bare earth, (b) dynamiting lots of buildings, and (c) providing
an abysmal service.

Solutions:

Planting trees will improve your rating with the local authority. Sometimes
you might need to plant a LOT.

If you clear just enough area to build your station in the town, and then
demolish anything that is in the way of the tracks, you might fins life
easier. But on the other hand, your stations are then sitting there receiving
no service, so will get very low ratings.
