I noticed that on Transport Tycoon Deluxe (I dunno about the original) that
helicopters become obselete before the game ends, yet you can still build
heliports. Is there anyway around this problem?

No, there is not. But if you disable vehicule breakdown the old

vehicules last until eternity.
