LAN NAT Internet games

Post by bobingabout »

they don't seem to work

i've played a network game with advertise on internet before on my network, connected to the net through another computer(or Router), and nobody ever joins.

but today i played with the same settings while i was on dialup and masses of people joined, is it a problem with the NAT internet connection IP sharing?

its a fairly common problem, i was wondering if you could get around it...

For every game/program that needs an incoming connection (eg server) you need to set up your router to forward the proper port to your PC. In your case it would be port 3979.

ok, I'm just used to RA2:YR and DS that work without any port farwarding, when i get the BB (i already have my linksys ADSL 4 port WLAN 56G router)i'll set that up, but at the moment, i don't know how to do that with a windows98SE ICS gateway(i currently have 2x 64k ISDN).

if i set up a dedecated server on the w98 gateway, would that work?

ICS configuration program. With this you can manage the ports on your W98SE ICS machine.
