First thanks to everyone involved in the OTTD effort - it's made me play the game again with renewed vigour and no fear of massive i-need-to-replace-70-busses RSI situations.
Did notice one thing though - replacing vehicles with multiple engies (especially double headers) causes fatal crashes... Just a bit of an annoyance.
Oh and is anyone looking into plane speed? because a 200mph train can overtake a 512mph plane - which seems a bit wrong.
Train replacement

1. Train replacement is bugged and can crash the game, that's why replacing dual-headed engines is 'disabled'. It will be fixed though.
2. Plane speed: yes, known
2. Plane speed: yes, known

Re: Train replacement
I would say leave it as it is, or implement it as a patch that can be turned on or off. At least now, yóu stand a chance at picking a aircraft in flight, with actual speeds you won't, since every jet aircraft will be like the Concorde (a.k.a. Yate Haugan), which is very hard to get at except at airports. I won't even comment on the Concorde.mr_pete wrote:Oh and is anyone looking into plane speed? because a 200mph train can overtake a 512mph plane - which seems a bit wrong.
If you want realism, why not change the cruising altitude from the few hundred meters that they fly at now to the actual ~10 km? An why not require airports to have runways that stretch for 2-3 kilometers? Additionally, aircrafts do not takeoff or land at cruising speed. Takeoff/landing speeds are around 250 km/h for normal jets and around 350 km/h for Concordes.
I know for sure that changing the cruising altitude is practically impossible given the current graphics engine. I just want to highlight the problems that arise when you change the cruising speed of airplanes to become "realistic".
But if you implement it as an option, that's fine with me.
