Race to 100.0%

Post by jrios428 »

Here is my scenario.

You have 10 years to reach a 100% rating. It is in the easy level. Interest is set at 25%.

There are 3 competitors setup that can only use aircraft. I have not allowed the player to use trucks or buses. The start year is 1910 and all other vehicles have been allowed.

It is a non moded version.

Updated with screen shots.

I have finished the scenario. I haven't spent A LOT of time on details of the map itself though.

This was an easy one  ,
Took me 7 years and 8 months and 73 trains
Money wasn't the problem, quick building was.
I made the mistake to upgrade the loko,s for a stronger one,but had better build more new lines.
Then it could be done in 5 years.
Had fun,

The scenario is pretty easy, I didn't know if I should have set the years allowed to 7.5 instead of 10. I finished with more than enough time left.

This is crap. 30 trains carrying goods ranging from coal to oil. Iron ore to Michael Jackson's court papers. 8 years later, £600,000 richer and my % still hasn't reached 50%. I gave up. There's no way I could have done this.

Why does my % go down evn though I'm pulling in profit left, right and centre?

Meh

A high rating is about high monthly vehicle profits and also hauling lots of stuff a very long way.

If you got to 50% with 30 trains it sounds about right as Chevvy got to 100% with over 70 trains. For instance dont move coal to the nearest place...move it right across the map.

I see. In any case you should check out the scenario. Most companies and their respective 'needs' are located literally miles away.

One of the downsides to playing this scenario at first, is the fact you spend so much on construction, although when you start making a profit it doesn't matter too much.

I still don't think I could have made an extra 50% with 20 more trains.

Has anyone else given this scenario a test?

Re:Samurai,
Make two ro-ro's and a ringline.
put 10+ trains on it and let it go.
Build an other line and so on..
when you have between 50 and 80 trains, youget garanteed 100%

Here is my entry for this scenario. 5years 0months
I got stuck in the 99s for several months for poor scalability in my tracks.
The scenario is quite easy, but takes some insane amount of clicking.
Enjoy

Make long lines for coal, iron and oil.
Shorter ones for passengers. If transport takes to long you aren't payed for them.
Sell trains that make no profit.
Go on with building new trains.

Hi Thanks for the scenario Jrios428

As its an early date the money terms are small. So the bigger part of the rating% needs to come from the cargoxdistance factor. So went for big trains crossing the map and ignored the more obvious closer routes.

Image

Initial route was 300 ton coal train hauled by Specials from A to B. Elevated platforms to allow weak train to get up to speed. Then short hop from B to C as an empty to pick up Coal from Jackson. Then long run to the power station at D. Then shot hop unloaded back to A. Kept adding trains to that.

Then Iron. Made steel to the most distant factory. Then Grain. By now breakdowns were playing havoc with the initial route. Cash no object now so changed new builds from ro-ro to multiple single lines to haul more coal and lumber.

No mods or picking up empties nor building whilst paused locked on.
Lasting impression..click click click click click click....pause...click click click click click...pause...click click click click :D

Wow Severous, that's some serious score. Good idea with the "coal ring". Can you actually reach 100% without carying all the goods on the map?

Your welcome Severous

Great job on getting it done in less than two years. You beat my time by almost a year.

dame! I could match 1y8m but not beat it :)
I must give Severous all the credit for the Coal loop idea.
There are some ideas in the map below, like the underground oil loop (build last of course) and the interlaced chemical/steel/iron ore loops which actually don't cross.
