At home I now use 1280x1024 on my 17" TFT, but I previously used 1024x768. My laptop, the school computers, and most other systems I use now use 1024x768. Occasionally I see the odd machine running 800x600, and some older machines doing 640x480.
Interestingly though, my old-old 15" CRT (before the one I had before my TFT) could run some Allegro DOS-based game demos at up to 1600x1200, but it would be incredibly painful on the eyes... But anyway, for the past couple of years, I've used 1024x768, and now 1280x1024.

I use 1280x1024 on my 19'' TFT, and have 1024x768 on my laptop (I don't know it's screen size precisely though).
Anyway, here are the statistics for my website, which show that 80% of the people use 1024x768 or 800x600.
You have to keep in mind that OTTD is usually used by computer litterate people (people that can compile the code are obviously computer litterate). So these people tend to have their hardware more up to date, bigger screens etc. because they spend more time looking at their computers screen that anything else during the day.

LOL yeah i actually know people that have good screens that can run fairly high resolutions, that never realised there was even the option to change the resolution.usually used by computer litterate people
needless to say without telling them i just change it, and they still don't relise anything is different

I know excatly what you mean. My next door neighbour some time ago got a new flat-screen, and was absolutely delighted with. However, they had a small problem with their PC, and ask me to fix it. In a separate issue, I asked if I could adjust the screen a little bit. "Go right ahead" they said.Alltaken wrote:LOL yeah i actually know people that have good screens that can run fairly high resolutions, that never realised there was even the option to change the resolution.usually used by computer litterate people

So I moved the screen display towards the middle, getting rid of that horrible black bars at the top and left of the screen.
"Goodness Gracious" they said, "I didn't know you could do that, and to think, we've been living with that for at least a year!" Doh!
That was the first time they saw a date & time on the bottom-right hand corner!
I re-assured them that they weren't the only ones.
