Hey Dev...
I dont know if this has been brought up befor. Or not.
But i was thinking.
Why do you guys still use the grf files?
i mean most of the good ones. Dont work.
And the ones that do work. have off values for the train cars and the Vehicals.
Why dont you guys break away from that.
And make a new grf system.
Or a editor to edit the current grf files.
I cant find any ediors, the only thing i found was ttd alter. And that dosent work. I dont know how to get it to detect the version number.
Wanted to Ask the Dev Team About the grf files.

Perhaps because sadly most of us is too busy with real-life to have so much time as to start a whole rewrite at the moment of the data files section.

Because ALL of the graphics are in GRF files?cdfbr wrote:Why do you guys still use the grf files?
Something like GRFCodec, Notepad, and The GIMP all rolled into one? That shouldn't be too hard to do; the GIMP and GRFCodec are both GPLed, and notepad can be done in MSVC by adding all of about 10 lines of code. Go for it!cdfbr wrote:Why dont you guys ... make ... an editor to edit the current grf files.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.
