[RFD] Special Vehicles

Post by Steve »

How do we want to handle vehicles like cruise ships and luxury steam trains? They are the kind of service that people pay to be on, rather than pay them to get you from A to B, in fact, you'd probaly want to go back to A.

In the ratings discussion it was decided that they should give a boost to ratings (up to a certain value), but how will we control them?

Two possibilities:
A: Let them find their own way between stations, probaly A LOT easier for boats than trains!
B: Set up a route, passengers get off when they get back to the stop they got on from.

Yeah, it might be cool, but somehow I believe it won't work out properly, so I'm for C as well.

It's quite a hassle but I would like some more backup on why c won't work.

Well probably it might work. But is in worth the effort? We are transport companiens, not crouse companies. We should focus on transporting things from A to B. No matter wheter they have broght a oneway ticet or a holliday package trip.

Question: Will it add enoght to the game to be worh inplementing. Or is it just a cool feature someone thoght of, and posted in the ideas thread.

I vote C, we're a transport company, not an entertainment company.

If it raises company rating, we will be "forced" to use them if we want to have our rating as high as possible. I don't want to be forced to build cruises, so ...

Of course you won't be forced! You can still have the highest ratings without them!

But i think we know it's going to end up as C anyway!

OT comment: It's fun how we're given two options, and everyone vote for the third :P

I vote A for ships, and B for trains, albeit the fact that I'm vastly outvoted.

These things should work exactly like every other type of vehicle, no real reason to suppose otherwise. I'd be for a cruise ship as a vehicle like any other ship, but not in method - "can of worms" would be an understatement. Consensus is reached:

Cruises and railtours dropped.
Of course, this doesn't mean we can't provide a cruise ship for sea routes.
