GRF mayday :(

Post by Aegis »

Ok. I'm having issues trying to run a few GRF files. Namely, the US Train set and the Industrial station grf set also from the same site. I install and run one GRF file at a time. I get one of three results:

-ERROR! newgrf/ussetw.grf has invalid sprite #2
-ERROR! newgrf/jcindstaw.grf is the incorrect version
-The grf DOESN'T cause either of the two alerts, doesn't work, and instead of the trains/stations I'd like, I get Toyland trains avaliable to build.

Here's a screengrab of my entire GRF folder. Keep in mind, I only use one or two GRF files at a time through TTDXC.:

And a screengrab of my newgrf.cfg file:

Here's where things get...odd. This is a screen of the cfg lines that come up in the dos window when I run TTD:

..and..

Which is bizzare. The build on slopes grf works, as does the electrified rails, semaphore signals, the Navstar/Volvo/Scandia/Mc/International trucks work, along with the new ship and train graphics availiable from the TTD patch site. I seem to only have issues running the US train set.

I do not know if this helps, but here's the contents of TTDPatch.cfg:
http://ghettonet.biz/ttdpatchcfg.txt

I'm running TTD Version 3.02.011, TTDPatch Version 2.0 rev 1 on a WinXP machine. If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, please speak up. I'm a titanic train nut, and I'd really like to get the US Set grf file/s and Industrial stations to work.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated and I thank you all in advance.

There is no = in patch settings, heres a example..
also your problem is in your ttdpatch.cfg, not your grf settings..also get Alpha 43 to be shure you can run all those graphic sets.

Code: Select all

// `abandonedroads' (-YA) makes roads lose their owner if they aren't used for a period of time, so you can remove unused roads if they're in the way. You also get the ownership of unowned roads if your vehicles use them. In mode 0, all roads lose their owners, in mode 1, roads near towns are taken over by the towns if their aren't used for a while, in mode 2 they're taken over instantly.
abandonedroads 2

// 'aiboost' (-A) asettaa tekoälyn rekursiotason.
aiboost 4

// `autorenew' (-Xa) Uudistaa veturit näin monta kuukautta ennen kuin ne tulevat todella vanhoiksi. Arvoväli -128..127. Oletus -6.
autorenew -6

// `aichoosechances' (ei komentolinjamääritettä) specify which chances to use when the ai decides what to build next (chance of building a ship route is 1-railchance-rvchance-airchance).
aichoosechances on

// `bribe' (-Xb) Lisää `bribe' (lahjo) napin aluevirainomais (local authority) menuun.
bribe on

Are you saying that I'm missing a string of code from the cfg file? What do I need to do to edit the file? Just remove the = from the file? And where might I get this Alpha 43? I don't see it on ttdpatch.net.

Forgot to mention that fact? None of those GRFs or those Cfg settings are supported 2.0.1rev1! You need the newest alpha.... http://ttdpatch.net/src

Everyones time including yours... must have taken a long time to write that post :)
Im wondering though why TTDXC added those lines to your Cfg, It should detect your version and not add them in....

Normaly I'm VERY thorough when it comes to troubleshooting software issues like this. Hell, I worked an internet help desk. I should have found this out on my own. Guess I'm losing my edge ^_^;

Funny thing is, I used to actually be known as Aegis, but I had that name for about a week before I picked the name Aegir (Old norse for Sea Lord, or God of the Sea, Aegir is a character out of Norse mythology aswell).

Aegis came out of nowhere really, but Aegir was made for a set character in a forum-based RPG that was in a fantasy setting, I myself confused too many people with the username of Aegis but the character name of Aegir. So at an Admins sugestion my username got changed. I've stuck with Aegir ever since, and have been steadilly building a reputation in various corners of the Internet.

Heheheh, that brings back a LOT of old memories, good memories,
