What I've been working on for the past few hours

Post by orudge »

This past few hours I've been working on the owenrudge.net Update Service. If anyone's interested, here are some screenshots of the client for the TT Utility Pack. There will also be versions for TTSGM and TTDAlter (actually, it's the same program, just called by different programs so it grabs different data).

The program isn't complete yet - it doesn't actually do any downloading of updates yet, just update data.

I guess you have allready thought of that, but I reccomend that you have an option of downloading alpha and/or beta updates. So those wo only wants stable releases, doesn't get bothered by alpha updates.
I'm lost in space. Visiting mother earth once in a while.

Well, the server does record whether an update is alpha, beta or release, and that is sent to the update client, so the client could check and only display release versions if the user asks for that.

Some PHP on the server, and Visual Basic on the client. It's a bit complicated to go into just now.

Sounds like an excellent idea. As long it is limited to running when you are running TTDPatch or Alter... I hate the Windows Update in Xp that is always running and sucking resources

Windows update is an excellent thing, but keep control, never allow it to run automatically, do it yourself once in a week
Well, back to work, lot's of it in the near future

Well, the owenrudge.net Update Service will be introduced into the TT Utility Pack, TTSGM and TTDAlter, but you will also be able to specify for it to check for new updates every x days, or never.

Well, it may still be a while, but I'll try and get everything (this, TTDAlter, TT Station, etc) done when I can.
