Damn it, here I am, trying to make an _extremely_ simple model for a presentation I have to do in early February. And I suck at modelling. I have no idea where to begin :/

And then I see people making the most beautiful trains and airports and what not :(
GoneWacko. Making #tycoon sexy and exciting since 1784.

Jpl if you have the source 3d riles for these graphics then they can be easily converted into a format that will fit into OTTD.

they are fantastic, (and not to 3d).

a bavarian T13, or BR92, most of you will know this loco as it's the first one given in MB's DB set.
i have the blender file too, want it?

EDIT: crappy photo i posted jeez! :D.. anyway, i've also got a thousand more vehicles, a station, and a thousand or so buildings. is this enough quality?

You're right, it's a crap render that you posted. Try rendering it similarly to Jpl with decent lighting and perspective, then people can better appreciate the model. As it is, you can't really see the shape of the model because there's no lighting so the matt black all blends together. Ergo it looks a lot worse than it probably is, as although on inspection the model does look pretty detailed and decent, the end image is quite poor.

naturally, the 3d models are only good if they are free from copyright, or we have the artist's permission. Did you manually create those 1000 models?

You seem to missing something about copyright law here. Unless explicitly placed in the public domain, all works are copyrighted until such time as the copyright runs out[0]. This includes, among other things. GPLed and LGPLed works, everything released under a Creative Commons license, and all posts to this or any other forum.

Content creators are not likely to place their work in the public domain, because then someone can change one minute thing (a pixel, a vertex, a word, a note, &c.) about it, and call it their own.

I know you also said "or we have the artist's permission", but considering the above, and the very specific requirements for these graphics, I seriously doubt that you'd be able to find anything useful that is no longer under copyright.

IANAL; the standard disclaimers apply.

[0] IIRC, 70 years after the death of the author, or 70 years after creation if the copyright is owned by a corporation.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.
