My goodness. You certainly have a very different style of interchanges from most others.

I agree, it's very refreshing to see different styles.

If you are interested in sharing your pictures with the majority of the community, you could try this thread

It would be nice to see more of your screenies :D.

I reall have to try one of your scenarios, as I'm a fan of the small town-small railway type games - it would be a real challenge to have to work with giant cities!

Keep up the good work, mate :)).

More "Screenies"

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear Mr. Krtaylor;

I like the use of your word 'Screenies'. That's fun.

OK, here are some more 'screenies'.

And Thanks Mr. Akalamanaia, for your support. BTW I
noticed that you are from Austrialia. Maybe you might
out one of my scenario "Outrageous Outback II". It has
some super cities and seaports as well.

Always,
Jim Powers

Scenario Request

Post by Kruz »

Dear Mr. Jim Powers.

I have a small request. I've noticed your interest and great skill in making scenarios and I ask if you can please make a scenario of Norway.
Seeing that me and a few others from Norway and other parts of the world are in the process of making a Norwegian Trainset for Transport Tycoon Deluxe, it's to be expected of us to provide the users with a scenario of Norway.

I've tried countless times myself but the end results have always been rather dissapointing.

Therefore I ask you, if you would be kind enough to help us by making a scenario of Norway, detailed with industries, cities and a roadnetwork connecting the cities.
You will ofcourse be credited if you help us.

Yours sincerely,

Kruz

Mr. Powers,

I'll be downloading your Outback Scenario when I have finished typing this post - perhaps to try out when I have finished my current game (a lot of mountains). Should be refreshing to play on a local environment.

Some more good screenies from you again - I liked your complicated intercharge, but it was a bit too big for my eyes . I'm used to really simple rail systems, I wonder how I will cope with your Outrageous Outback scenario ;).

Cheers mate!

OOPS!

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear Mr. Akalamanaia:

I really apologize for the blunder, Sir. Wow, that's stupid!
But, You were very kind to not "chew me out", Sir, but I had it comin'.
And you are right, Mr. Raichase, you was the gentleman from Australia.
I can't help laughing at myself for screwing up so bad. All please forgive
this ol' man, OK?

Can someone help me? I tried to get the "townbuildnoroads" to work,
but the towns still builds roads. I use TTDLX CONFIGURATOR 2.4.7 to
help me with the grf files and I thank Mr. Andres Zsogon for allowing
us to use this fine program to help us "regulars" keep up to date on TTD.
But, I'm just not getting anywhere with this latest fun asset which, if I
get it working, I'll not have to place 'Sold' signs around the cities and along
the roads to keep unwanted roads from distroying my game. The guy that's
made this possible, sure deserves a huge THANK YOU! If anyone would
help me. I'd more than appreciate it.

Always,
Jim Powers

Is it possible to let us see a savegame of yours? I am interested in examining how your layout works, i do not understand the function from a screenshot.

If you could post a savegame, it would be great :)

I am sorry, but i can not help you with your problem. It is quite a while since i used the patch, as iv'e grown used to the Open TTD, which has a biger resolution, so i have no experience with the patch's latest switches.

Jim (If i may use your first name?), that is the most amazing game iv'e ever seen! Everything goes so smoth, no clogups, no nothing. The only place trains had to wait was beside a long tunnel, and there was a lost train, but besides that, i could see no flaws at all. It's the most perfect game i have ever seen. I am truly amazed!

Well, many people here have done much worse - at least you take the time to spell everyones name right (I'm guilty of a few misspellings :|)! No problems at all mate, I'm an Aussie and proud of it :D.

Hmm, thats interesting. I assume you are using the latest alpha (as otherwise you would be having problems with it rejecting the switch when you start TT). Are you using the DOS, or Windows version of TT? I have the Windows version, and am not having a problem with the switch yet.

Perhaps you can send us your ttdpatch.cfg file (it should be a notepad document in your TT directory), so that someone in the know can take a squiz at it?

Yes, thats the same solution I had to take to get them to stop runing my stations expansions. The switch works really well with small towns on the side of highways, as they grow along with the highway, until we allow them to exapnd outwards :D. I also wish to echo your tanks to the creator (Csaboka? Josef? Marcin?) of the switch.

Perhaps, also, you would be able to get a higher-calibre response if you posted your problem in the thread where the patch dev's "live" so to speak:

Try here

I hope we can help you, as you have done so much for us so far :].

Cheers,
Raichase

Were you using the sncenerio editor? It builds roads in that
That switch only works while you play the game

Townbuildnoroads

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. singaporekid_92;

Thank you for your help, Sir. I thought that might be the case, but, wasn't sure. I've played my game since 4:00am this morning and saw that the towns actually did not build roads. This should mean that I don't have to use
the "Sold" signs to contain the city limits and we shouldn't be losing any industries because some "hairy" road took off across the place where our poor industry was. GREAT!

My Last Saved game

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. ThorRune;

I'm happy you liked the way I laid out my RR system, Sir.
After finally installing that wonderful switch "citybuildnoroads", it seems
that THE CITIES DID NOT ERODE! If that be the case, then my large
generated cities will at least hold their population and we wont have
that dreadful "ghost town" effect. Tomarrow, I'll continue to test this out.
Maybe, just maybe we will have normal cities. I do hope so.
Thanks again for you comments, Sir, though I don't deserve them.

Mr Powers, thanks for doing that - the Taming the Swiss one sounds interesting, and I am going to give your Outback scenario a try when we get some nice Aussie trains to play with too :D.

Should be my next game actually, I'll have to have a look see which one tickles my fancy :).

Cheers mate!

Norway Scenario

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear Mr, Kruz;

I haven't heard back from you, Sir. I was thinking. Is my
scenario "Norden Plus" (Page #11) About Norway? See, us
Americans don't know too much about the countries overseas,
so, I really don't know what youre looking for, unless you send
me a basic map and tell me a little about your cities, industries, etc.
Then I'll be happy to put together a scenario that would please you
smart programmers who can design trains, buildings, etc. I envy you!
I have the imagination but not the "know how" to make these happen.

Actually, I can answer that for you. Norden Plus is like the name says here in Norway (Norden=The north) the countries that are north in Europe, like Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland (don't know if Iceland is in the map) and Russia, atleast.

And a map of all the Norway can be quite huge, since Norway is only mountains :P

But if you want a map over Norway, I'm more than happy to help

This site have some maps over Norway, but I can't actually help you so much about industries, since I don't know my country that well. Hope I helped you a little on your way though
