[Released] 1920s & 1980s Railbuses (Update: 07/03/2005)

Post by Wessex_Electric_Nut »

Pikka, Colhad, Bloodnok, etc know about this. But I created a railbus for Trainz sometime ago. At the time, it was linked to the history of where I used to live. Now, here is how it looks after some time tweaking with Max and looking at some info of how to add Loco objects.
Image
Small, cheap, easy and can take around 52 passangers (you're pushing it!) a set! If that won't attract you, then its low running costs will. It did for the late Colonel Stephenson!
Enjoy this preview, I shall try and have a fully working version available soon! :)

Wait, is this a railbus in the way that it is a bus (duh) with wheels to run on normal gauge?

If yes, are there coaches to couple with the "loco" you posted here (You mentioned a set)

Yay! What year will it come out? :P Oh and will you do the baggage wagon for it that you did create, but never released for Trainz?

Cheers,
John

Think of a use for it, and the answer is "maybe"!

How about setting it up to carry mail? It'd make the set even more useful!

In real life, they carried a variety of things. Remember, this is 1928-1935 we are talking about, some goods carried maybe a little disturbing:
  • Passangers (about 20-30 of them!)
  • Luggage
  • Cows
  • Milk
  • Trees
  • PW gangs tools (the PW gang often borrowed that wagon for their own use!)
  • Almost ANYTHING!!
Anything in particular? I don't think they carried mail

You could use "mail" instead of luggages

Perhaps, if you found time, you could make it so that if you put on a Railbus + Wagon + Railbus, the Railbus at the rear is rotated.

After a few hours rendering, and trial (I unfortuately have the demo version of Locomotion!), I have a file. The question is "Does it work?". My answer is not sure.
EDA woul be 1928 IIRC, Obsolete date is 1957 (before the second wave of Railbuses!).
I may have a go at RB002 if this one is successful!

You can compile things for demo too with LocoTool. It runs correctly on rails, but it requires the thing to be bought 2 times, but theres clipping between units(not just between the 2 seperate "trains", but also between the 2 units in both "trains", wich causes awful things). You got to fix something in the code.

Here
(Edit)Heres how ya can compile for demo
Patchman wrote: Finally, I've added command line options. You can now use the options:
  • -p <num> chooses the company colour range; 0 and 1 disable company colours; even numbers enable both company colours and the original colours whereas odd numbers disable the original colours
  • -d generates .dat files for the demo version
  • -o <path> sets the base name for the png files
  • -q turns off all error messages
also the train hasn't have to be classed as a DMU or EMU so it can use more than 1 unit per train..
