Planeset [version 1.5.3 released 2006-10-24]
Moderator: Graphics Moderators
All IDs are taken. However, there are some aircraft that nobody has drawn, and it would be great if you worked on some of those.

According to the facts given in Wikipedia, the Stratocruiser is too similar to DC-6 and also appears around the same time making it non-special.
Don't know if krtaylor has changed his opinion of the incomplete planes lately, he wants to see the planes currently on list done while avoiding modifications to the list. All the planes that are there are more or less important but they haven't been drawn nor are they getting any such attention (whether me or krtaylor were for or against the planes). On the other hand, some good alternatives could be easily done as replacements. Maybe someone has opinions about such planes.
Preferably we're not talking about any niche market planes with better alternatives, we're talking about planes that are on their time "best in doing something specific". For instance I'd personally like to see Fokker F-27 in the set since it's a regional prop plane that appears way before any other planes with same concept and it was popular and had big manufacturing figures. If you have any such planes in mind with _proper arguments_, tell us. If enough public support for any specific plane arises, we should consider it's status.

And remember: Currently we have the problem of getting the planes DRAWN. Don't suggest anything that seems too hot to handle for those few who have interest towards developing this set.

We actually have the majority of the planes drawn, I'm having a hard time understanding why it's so hard to get the last couple drawn.

Not bad, actually. Better than nothing, for sure. It's recognizeable at least.
Now we need the other angles...

Ok it seems to be finished. I hope you like it. Now someone else has to implement it into the Set. By the way: Its a really weird construction! Sometimes it was a real challence for me to get the right proportions. Now I really know what it means to contribute something for TTD Patch.

Looks very nice, Spaceball!
But it isn't quite finished. We need separate sprite-sets for the rotors, oriented so as to align themselves in the proper place over the helicopter's body in the eight directions. You can use the original TTD rotor as a starting point, except of course that the Chinook needs two, one fore, one aft.

Ahh yes, I forgott. That was the thing I wanted to ask bevore, but forgott.
By the way can someone contribute the original rotors grafics? I am at work now and I don't want to download the whole game onto the Company Computer. When I have the rotors I can go on.

Ah, yes. I don't seem to have the rotor sprites anywhere readily available. Does anyone else have them, or can get them, and post them here? I'm not really well versed in GrdToGrf and such.

I already downloaded the game and encoded the sprites. Well this may take a while. To make the Rotors will be much more work than I thought. I will do it tommorow. I don't have enough time left. My shift is over in 1 1/2 hours. Thats not enough time to concentrate on the rotors.

Ok it was not as much as I thought. I should be checked now if it works or not. Then I can change it if its needed.
EDIT: The Set is wrong. The Chinook Rotors have 3 foils and not two! I will change that.

Very impressive!
You're right about the three rotors though. Details, details...
Would you like to have a go at the Sikorsky S-58 when you're done with the Chinook rotors? It should be fairly straightforward.

Yes I will continue with the Sikorsky S-58. Depends on the Time I have. My Boss pays me for doing the Nightshift, not for drawing Helicopters.
Would you mind to change the Bell V-22 Osprey into the Fairchild Dornier DO 328? This Aircraft has been built in a Jet Version and in a Turboprob Version. My Uncle was one of the Developers and worked for Dornier until the Company went bankcrupty. The Do 328 was a financial success and is known as the Mercedes of Regional Aircrafts. I would also draw the Do 328.
Heres some Information about the Do 328 Jet Version: http://www.luftfahrtmuseum.com/htmi/itf/do328j.htm

Those Chinook diagonals need reworking. They are in wrong "angle", in other words their perspective doesn't look right. Have a close look in all other planes in the set and you can see that in diagonals for 1 pixel vertical "deviation" there is 2 pixel horizonal "deviation". Yours has 1 and 1. If that current sprite was encoded in the set, the chopper would not seem to fly straight but instead with it's "side on front".
Another thing: The image format is wrong. Need 8-bit PNG or PCX with exactly right pallette.
However, I'm glad to see the progress.

We aren't going to change the Osprey for the Dornier, because the Osprey works like a helicopter and we need a helicopter in that era.

Ok, no Prop. How should the Osprey fly? Its more like a mix of an Airplane and a Helicopter. I think it will fly like a Airplane when its in the air.
@459
The palette should be right. I used the File from Purnos Tutorial Site. I've done the Chinook with MS Paint. I will do the PCX file with Photoshop when Iam finished with the whole thing.
