I agree that it would be nice to have alternate liveries for cargo planes. If we wanted to get fancy, we could have UPS and FedEx versions of more modern planes, and orange Flying Tigers versions of the older ones.
459, can you combine GRF files between yours and zero's? Or did you already? I don't want two separate files of course.
As with all these projects, there is no release date, it will be done when it's done.
Do you have a mathematical description of the acceleration other than in the NFO file? We had a long discussion about this many, many pages ago.

zero1000 - http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=8083 and see the 3d coordinate pic. I hope I understood the point of the pic right. I'll be experimenting a bit with those xrel and yrel values soon. Somebody with a proper Internet connection please dig more proper information about this.
Here's a set where all my 15 planes are mostly coded and flyable, still in WIP status with previously mentioned attributes not properly assigned. The zero1000 planes haven't been merged there yet but I'll also try to do that soon.
I haven't got any idea of that acceleration system, only thing I know is that bigger number gives bigger acceleration
Time order in planelist might suck a bit since many planes are introduced around the same time and the random introduction. When you post the unified planeset GRF, why don't you also call it planesetw.grf? That will be its real name eventually anyway.

What's the question?
An NFO file is a file that contains information about how a sprite is to be used. It's useless in the game, it is sort of a pre-processing file that the GRF encoder uses in making a GRF.
A PCX file is a standard graphic format. You use PCX files to contain the drawn sprites. I think also you can use PNG, that's what I use because those can be seen by ordinary browsers.
A GRF file is a specially encoded file that contains both the graphic information of the sprites, and also game information about how it is used (vehicle name, stats, ID, etc.) That's the file that can be used by the Patch to add new vehicles to the game.
The issue I was raising is, that Dinges did a file named planesetw.grf which contained two new planes (747-400 and Concorde), then zero1000 did another GRF file named planesetw_zero.grf which contained several more planes, then 459 did a file named 459.grf which contained even more. I'm asking, that 459 combine them all into ONE file named planesetw.grf which contains ALL the new planes. Of course they aren't all drawn yet, we'll add them as they appear.

Me, no. But I get the impression that 459 and zero1000 are working on doing the coding, for everything.

Here is the Sonic Cruiser, Saab 2000 and 747-400 in a special technique used to have company color in liveries. Scottishasttdx and zero1000 may choose weather they like these modifications to their graphics.
Note however that I emphasize on fairness in this project; just as I allowed Shadow-XIII partial credit for tweaking the cruiser, and just as anyone who tweaks so much as a single pixel should get(should their work be included in the final form), I would like partial credit if they accept the changes.

Here comes the combined beta planeset. I renamed the set appropiately. It now has my planes, zero1000's planes, Dinges's planes (with latest graphical fixes as of 6.8.2004) and the planes that use existing TTD graphics. The remaining planes drawn by others will be coded soon. In the meantime, try to find bugs and anomalities from this release, I'll be "out from office" till the beginning of the next week.
While assigning slots I discovered that there's technically only space for 41 planes (I was in belief that there were 42 slots). We have 42 planes on the list so something has to be left off. Shall we remove the airships for now since no-one draws them, reduce amount of helicopters or drop an airplane off?
Is there any way with NFO or other tricks to eliminate the built-in planes so that only modified planes are present?

I'd say, whichever plane doesn't get drawn, gets dropped. The Wiki still says there can be 42 planes, did we miss one somewhere or is it wrong?
I think with the NFO you could set all the other planes to be available only in Toyland, which would have the effect you want until we have all the planes ready to take their place.
It looks like we want two separate sets: one in company colors, and one with real liveries. And, we have some planes ready for both

while we are bringing it up, I feel a proper discussion is needed on the matter of liveries. I'm all in favour of including them (but with a way to use company colour if wanted) but the artists will probably (I know I do) need some confirmation and discussion on exact liveries and how to represent them.
Another thing is the possible inclusion of time changable liveries. For instance, you say British Airways livery for the concorde, but BA have had 3 liveries since they began using the supersonic craft.

Over time maybe we'll have liveries change, but that'd be a lot of work and I'd like to get the set out first with just one set.

@all: i have prepared an id usage list, the order is based on type of aircraft (airship, prop plane, passenger jet, cargo jet, passenger heli, cargo heli), manufacturer, time/model. pls. see attached excel sheet. the list also contains the current status of the aircrafts.
@459: if you do a new version of the planeset, can you sort the id's following this list - if we can aggree on this order
at the moment the planes are really mixed-up in the buy window (that's ok at the moment, because it is the first planesetw beta version).
and can u add something in action 8, e.g.:

Releasing these beta sets hopefully gathers more outside attention and workforce to get the set to better shape and sooner. At least people now have impression that this set is more than just pretty pictures 
zero1000, that list might look better if you sort all manufacturer's planes of same type so that they are in conscecutive order. Another story is what should be done for Beluga since it's pure cargo airplane...
DC-3, DC-8, DC-10 and MD-80 are Douglas / MDD products.
Same for Concorde and BAe146.
Same for Connie and Tristar.
Same for DH Comet and DH Dash 8, but not CRJ100 (although the latter two are currently Bombardier products).
Fix all the manufacturers to alphabetical order instead of random order. Once the list gets "nice" to look at we'll use it, the current time order looks messy, planes here and there and I think that it's easier to distinguish planes by manufacturer than in case of trains (people don't pay that much attention to manufacturer in trains anyway).
