Fleet management
The ability to manage a fleet of trucks as easy as managing a single truck.
The user could send the entire fleet to the depot or change the fleets schedule. I think this would be usefull when you have 100+ trucks on the map

This is like grouping the trucks (and why not trains, planes, ships too?) and giving them the same order with only one click. Very useful!

Yeah, you could have a fleet of trucks that service a factory and with a few clicks of the mouse button the fleet could quickly service another factory.Purno wrote:This is like grouping the trucks (and why not trains, planes, ships too?) and giving them the same order with only one click. Managing schedule? Don't shared schedules work with trucks?Airtaxi Pilot wrote:The ability to manage a fleet of trucks as easy as managing a single truck.

You can copy schedules but if you need to change it then you have to (unless there is a feature that I am unaware of) edit the schedule for each truck. It would be easier to edit the schedule for a fleet/group of trucks.ChrisHuebsch wrote:Managing schedule? Don't shared schedules work with trucks?

Re: Fleet management
If you create a new schedule for a vehicle, press crtl+klick on the vehicle as if you would copy a schedule. Doing this, the schedule will not be copied, but shared.Airtaxi Pilot wrote:You can copy schedules but if you need to change it then you have to (unless there is a feature that I am unaware of) edit the schedule for each truck. Works with trains. But should work with road_veh. too.
Updating can't be automated this way. But look at the semi automatic renew patch i posted recently.
the only problem is to unshare orders... if you delete the orders from one truck they're deleted for all. (so you have to sell the truck, circumvent the remembered orders and then buy a new one)

Oh, I didnt know that! thanks.ChrisHuebsch wrote:If you create a new schedule for a vehicle, press crtl+klick on the vehicle as if you would copy a schedule. Doing this, the schedule will not be copied, but shared.
No, that's not entirely true. You have to click on '--end of shared orders--' in the orders window, and delete that. This way, that vehicle will get unlinked from the shared orders, and it has now orders completely on its own.Korenn wrote:the only problem is to unshare orders... if you delete the orders from one truck they're deleted for all. on the topic of shared orders...
Shared orders (routes) could be defined without any vehicles being assigned to it. Players could browse/select the routes when buying new vehicles or reasigning existing vehicles. Each route would have a description/name, eg "Henley Power Station Supply".
This could be expanded with financial figures for routes, such as revenue and profit.

Would a 'fleet' be considered as a group of trains/trucks... all with the same shared order list? If so:
* Being able to say send this fleet to the depot would be good
* See that profit from all the fleet vechs and the total profit for the complete fleet
* See which vechs are accually using the shared orders (and set some static)
* Globally change all vechs in the fleets servicing time
* Stop all vechs in the fleet in their tracks, eg. a global stop/go button
I could proberly come up with some other fleet orders to.
Also maybe a global group which is properbly the original fleet idea, so that the above actions can be done to the whole set of vechs. (Note: excluding the ones that are already provided)

It works, thanks Darkvater, that had been troubling me, is that documented anywhere? - also could do with keeping the old orders but just making them this train only.

No, my original idea was fleet management for individual groups of vehicles.nzhook wrote:Also maybe a global group which is properbly the original fleet idea, so that the above actions can be done to the whole set of vechs. (Note: excluding the ones that are already provided)
A player would have different fleets for differnt services.
but it must be agreed that being able to change the depot time of ALL trucks would be nice. regardless of fleet.
i.e. truck one is memeber of fleet 233, and truck two is member of fleet 5 million.
then going to global fleet, change depot service interval...that would be cool.
or global fleet go to depot (instant removale of all trucks LOL if you happen to hate trucks like i do, however most of my road vehicle dislikes would be due to not having fleets, so fleets would make me use them again)
awsome awsome idea.
