Can't install custom grapics executables please help!

For OpenTTD, how does one install new graphics sets? Whenever I have tried, it has never worked. I am referring to things that modify existing graphics, like the Urban Renewal Set, and the one that turns your HQ into the Burj-al-Arab, that sail-shaped hotel in Dubai, UAE. I have seen screenshots of OpenTTD where they have custom graphics like those, but I can't duplicate that. Thanks in advance.

Well first you have to have the graphics set in the .exe version not the grf version, then you backup your oTTD folder (well all the grf files in it at least), then you run the exe file in your oTTD folder and it changes the built-in graphics files.

I already knew to use the .exe versions. I tried what you said, regarding folder placement, but it still doesn't work.

it works for me too!, i've some strange bridges and industries, and also the urban renew set. but just to say it isn't working doesn't make much sense to me. what do get, an error message, or just don't get the new graphics at all?

also, is there a way to make work the grf files???
i've seem some progress in the dev forum, but dunno
