Unfloodable things

Post by Tino Didriksen »

Things that won't be flooded, but should be flooded:
- Bought land
- Depots
- HQs
- Any tile with a vehicle on

(train)Depots do get flooded. For the others...it needs to be looked at

Flooded vehicles should generate appropriate news messages.

There isn't really anything you can do if it has been flooded though.

But you'd like to know something has been flooded. Primarily because the only time it is going to happen is if you, or the enemy interfere with the surrounding land. and if it's the later case, you'll just have to get revenge.

Are tunnels flooded? I think bridges are.

Train depots don't get flooded. at least unless someone has fixed it. by default they are immune.

OT: Now that i know that HQ's can't be flooded, i know where i'll place my next one. ;)

I fixed flooding for company-owned land. Check out the upcoming nightly build for it.
Edit: I reversed that commit, because Darkvater was already working on it.

Concerning the other things:
- depots: They already get flooded. Except when a train is inside of course.
- vehicles: I think that'd make a nice desaster. (with news message of course)
- HQ: I'm not certain about that. Maybe it shouldn't be floodable.[/list]

- Any tile with a vehicle on it doesn't get flooded...so far - thinking how to do it
- Train depots get flooded
- Road depots DON'T get flooded - working on it *done
- Company HQ doesn't get flooded - working on it *done

This has been a sad, sad day for my Company. Here I was doing some great business, and suddenly the dikes broke :(
Just look what it has done to my beautiful trains! The bus tried to get away, but not even the depot was safe. Poor, poor driver.

sorry for the larger size, but it's worth it
For the first time ever in TTD history, see your vehicles destroyed by a flood! :D

Water should get _through_ the tunnel - a water square would appear at the other end of the tunnel, then the tunnel would get so drenched that it collapsed... >:)

Yes, and hard unkept dikes should break more easily because the moles are digging too much holes in it, thus weakening it to a point where a medium storm will totally demolish them...or or let's have a meteorite crash, creating a tsunami that will flood all coastal tiles....or or God getting pissed off about not enough churches in a town and sending a horde of deadly lemmings into the city decimating its population :P

If the tunnel collapsed, there would be no new supply of water, and thus the water would no longer spread

Gonewako: And where does the water spread from, from an 1x1 inland water square at present?
Thought so. :)

A spring? You could set up a bottling company, hehe. Could you perhaps add dams? Similar the buy land, a solid wall with a road along the top of it, you could then drag and destroy all the water and your left with a beautiful valley with impending doom

Unfortunately water only floods if you try and build a canal above level 0, maybe there could be a cheaper version where you just build water and no walls - if you end up flooding half the map its your own fault.
