network and Mac OS X

Post by Arldon »

Hello

When I try to launch a network game in Mac OS X (10.3.3) with the command "ttd -n test", the game doesn't launch, and the following message appears:
dbg: sdl: using driver 'Quartz'
dbg: sdl: using mode 640x480
Error: connect() failed
ttd.c:61: failed assertion `0'
./ttd: line 1: 640 Abort trap "open transport tycoon.app"/contents/macos/ttd $1 $2 $3 $4 $5 $6 $7 $8
Did anyone know the meaning of this message?

You should specify ip address in -n switch, not host name.
I guess this will be fixed soon, though.

it's because your computer don't know the host "test" :wink:

if you host a game all you need is -n
if you join a game, you should use -n IP, where IP is the IP of the server

Thank you!

I've also a more general question: what is the port number used by tycoon?

12345, but that will likely change in the future

Port 12345 is a poor choice for port as it is the default port for the NetBus remote/trojan software.

I said it would change in the future. It might even be the next release
