It occurs to me, that the narrow-gauge railways are actually well suited for the forced short distances of TTD. I can't help but wonder if the fairly small towns and too-close villages, are quite realistic for a narrow-gauge network. If you think of the TTD board as, say, ten miles on a side, it begins to make sense. You'd expect to find only one, maybe two, main-line stations in that sort of square, and most local transport would be via narrow gauge, or trucks, depending on the era.

How'd you find the Great White North, eh?cornelius wrote:I went to Canada for two weeks. Nice coach though.
If you guys can get the Narrow Gauge trackset up, I may swipe it for my Canadian set. We had the White Pass & Yukon and the Newfoundland Narrow Gauge. I think we can do without Monorail

I was staying in Whistler, and saw freight trains passing occasionally (actually heard them more often) so I now understand what those centre-beam wood cars are all about.

Thanks for setting the site up!
If you look on page 2 of the thread you'll find the initial list I thought of for engines - I will try and draw some more stuff next week but I don't know how much time I'm going to have.

I haven't picked out any specific engines because I'm not sure what to use yet. All the Irish lines were 3' gauge, so the engines are usefully bigger and faster than the Welsh ones and were still being developed until about 1920, when railcars started to become more popular. What do you reckon?
