Yes, I have.

And the splash screens at the beginning are simple pictures, so you could change it easily.

Well... Changing the opening screen is one thing, but I dunno if people want us to change the whole opening sequence just to advertise our set. Even MB didn't do that.

I've even turned them off entirely.

Not a bad idea at all. I always just hit "Enter" at the first opportunity, so as to skip to the start screen.

When I tried making my own title screen I ended up getting just a blank flat temperate map.

Maybe that's the trick? Get rid of the title screen file ?
