Ignore Railtype for Trains

Is there a setting or console command to make trains ignore railtype?

I have a lot of train set newGRFs loaded but unfortunately not many provide narrow gauge vehicles. Is there a setting to change that allows all trains to travel on all rail types?

There is no such setting, but it should be possible to make an add-on that makes all rail vehicles compatible with all track types.
