[Project] Forum Integration in the Windows Client

Post by Tatsuya140711 »

Hello to all developers and members of the OpenTTD community,

I'm an enthusiastic OpenTTD player and have been thoroughly exploring the documentation and forum in recent days. An idea came to me that I believe could significantly improve the user experience, especially for those seeking help or wanting to participate more actively in the community.

My proposal is to integrate the forum functionality directly into the Windows version of the game. I envision an in-game interface where users can:
  • Read the latest forum posts and topics.
  • Search for information and guides without needing to open an external browser.
  • Post questions or share ideas directly from the game.
  • I believe this could facilitate communication and access to information for many players, especially for those who are new or prefer not to have to switch between the game and the browser.
I'm thinking this could be implemented using Python (or any other language you deem more suitable) to interact with the forum's API (if one exists) or by creating an integrated web viewer.

I would like to know what you think about this idea and if it's something the development team would consider for future versions. I am willing to learn and collaborate to the best of my ability to bring this project to fruition.

Thank you for your time and for the incredible game you have created!

Best regards,

Alejandro (Tatsuya140711)
