Display cargo base pay rate

Post by AlphaCentauriBear »

Surprisingly, cargo base pay rate is not shown anywhere even on the cargo payment chart, which starts from 10 days. Would be nice to have this information.
One option would be to start cargo payment chart from 0. I honestly don't understand why it wasn't like that in vanilla.
If not that then maybe just draw a numbers on it somewhere?

Cargo is paid based on distance and time to deliver.

There's no "base rate" because cargo such as food is more time sensitive than say coal. The faster you deliver on the shorter distance yields more profit.

Of course there is a base pay rate, which is the rate that would have been awarded for delivering the cargo instantly (or, strictly speaking, in fewer than Days1*4 days). However, the difference in payout between delivering in zero days and delivering in 10 days is negligible: about 3% for Fruit, and even less for other cargo types.

Cargo is paid based on: "it is the product of the cargo payment rate, amount of cargo, transit distance, and time factor determined by days in transit." According to this article: https://wiki.openttd.org/en/Manual/Game ... o%20income.

What I meant by cargo base rate is the current one accounting for inflation assuming zero days in transit. Of course, this is unreachable ideal but still one would like to see it for making business decisions.
Currently, graph starts at 10 days. It would be nice to start it from zero days.

Admittedly, I don't really understand the mechanics of it that well.

All I understand is that more cargo delivered over a further distance pays more.
